The included heat shrink tube setup isn't working on my Radix, so I'm trying something more conventional. This is a chip of a popsicle stick. It is inset into the foam by a few milimeters. It can be reinforced with some thin CA if needed.

I figured it was were similar to these, until I realized how much contact these make with the control surface

I'm looking for someone with experience to tell me if this little chip will hold while flying. The plane should be about 8 ounces when complete and fly indoors and outdoors. Pushrod will be carbon in the middle with wire ends.

It will probably stay in the foam as long as you glue them in good. The thing to worry about is the hole getting bigger from wear, or them breaking outside of the foam. I'm not sure what grade of wood popsicle sticks are made from.

The other control horns you mentioned are made from aircraft ply. The new versions weigh less than 1 gram for all 4 control horns! They look like this:

Thanks Tim. I'm going to try cutting out something that will have more contact area with the control surface.
