If you are interested in adding a fail-safe sort of function to your non-PCM R/C system, then you might want to visit the RC-CAM Special Projects (http://www.rc-cam.com/projects.htm) page. Click on the RCFS link.

It offers fail-safe hold and fail-safe preset upon lost or severely corrupt R/C signals. It plugs into each servo that requires the feature.

This design can also be used as a lost model finder. Turn off your Tx and your model will beep. Only three parts to do so!

The design is based on a PIC microcontroller, so you will need access to a "PIC chip burner" to build the gadget. Estimated cost is a couple bucks per servo. Sorry, but no parts are sold -- just offering free info. Enjoy!

I have built this thing, In order to make my high altitude slow stick descend and start circling, in case of radio control loss.
Worked very good with servos, I had some issues with its use for esc, forgot what it was...
Also this thread may belong in DIY?

That is odd -- should be fine with ESC's. However, a failsafe motor shutdown is often built into the ESC so the RCFS is not really needed on that channel.

Back in year 2002 the DIY forum did not exist. This forum was all we had for things like this.

Unfortunately I have no idea what my problem was ? Probably I wanted it to go to a preset throttle setting?
Or wanted to resolve rpm twitching with GWS receiver and brushed motor system, by holding last good setting, and it would still twitch?
Don't remember.....
