Those are older videos from 2005. In less than three weeks I should be able to provide newer ones from the 2006 qualification competitions. ;)

Thanks for the video link - I really enjoyed watching that flight. The combination of beautiful flying and narration is almost hypnotizing...

That's Bert van der Vecht's design. Derk's uncle I believe. Here are some Dutch threads with details.

To be honest I'm a bit surprised that we haven't seen people using VPP to slow down the downlines a bit.

Some are but, it's usually not worth the weight penalty. Also, there are more static ways to provide constant speed, such as air brakes.

Check out Quique's flight from E-fest in this thread (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=477932#post5060578) . He does exactly that on the square eights.

I am pretty sure our friends from the Czech Republik will put some videos on their website too (www.rcmania.cz).
I will try to take some more videos this weekend at the 2. Qualification in Mülheim. There should also be a local TV-Team there on Sunday.

Dick,
I had a look at several of the videos on your website - very nice!
I was wondering if you can tell me anything about the streamer towing monoplane flown by Benoit-Derk-Donatas in the Aeromusical Aalst 2006 Nr.3-2-1? It has Fusion written on the wing which I assume is the name of it?
It looks like it has a non-flat aerofoil. I'm thinking of going this route myself with two 2mm depron skins around a carbon and depron spar but I'd love to see more pictures of the Fusion and if possible see how it's constructed.

The Fusion is a model which Benoit Dierickx has used for approx. 4 years now. Of course there have been some modifications, but the biggest jump in performance came from using brushless motors and Lipos.

Jeff, Armin Mangelmann had reported problems with the Strecker (LRK). I think it was back in the HL Micro Yak thread in the 3D forum. Armin says there are cheaper alternatives.
