I was wondering how complex would it be to build a plane that was controlled via bluetooth i have heard of micro remote controll cars bieng controlled by it but would it be a viable option for a indoor pico stick for example?
what kit would i need and how much is it likely to cost?

Bluetooth range (of the top of my head) is about 10mtr.

Wait until you see my model that's controlled by keychain car alarm transmitters. :p

isnt there any way of boosting this range or has the idea fallen at its first hurdle :p
i like the idea of that car alarm transmitter i heard on some of them you can get almost 300 meter range on one

Bluetooth has two different classes, there is a 10 meter class, and a 100meter class. Most of the modules I see are the 100meter class. Most of the available modules are serial to serial, so you would need a processor like a PIC or AVR at each end to encode and decode the signals. Could be done, but don't see any advantage over commercial RC gear. Here is one place to get the modules. http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/categories.php?cPath=16_79

Might be a fun project, but not a very useful device. Try the DX6 if
you are really wanting a useful system.

Hi....just to say that we're about to start selling the Bluetooth Radio module BR-C30 for about 30GBP. It has a range of 100M, and has enough bandwidth to send back pictures or audio from onboard....

On top of that it's very very light and small, and very easy to use.

Details will be on the site by the 16th Feb 2006

Sorry, we had a few problems with customs and excise. The units have arrived now, and they're on the site along with data sheets.

They're SMD but we're designing breakout boards that will allow them to be mounted as DIL packages. Should be about a week or so.

Have already used just to send data from a PC to another PC as a replacement serial cable...Very easy to do.

Using for RC control would require an MCU on each end, but would be very simple to code, and would offer the opportunity of all sorts of extra features.
