I am looking for a analog rpm-meter for a engine. (doing 16.000 rpm max) I would like it to look like a rpm-meter in a car with the needle moving 3/4 round the dial, starting at 0 up to 16000 rpm with the needle base in the middle. I have found some cheap rpm meter from a car part dealer but it only works with 4 cyl up to 8000 rpm. Can I convert one of these to work with my engine (1 cyl 16000 rpm)? Can I use a opto sensor (a disc with a notch on the flywheel) or a magnet mounted on the flywheel.

Real scale looking models needs real working instruments...

schematics and manual for the ACE analog tach: ftp://ftp.rogueview.com/Radio_Control/Ace_RC/Test_Equipment/Tachmaster%20II.pdf

or look into a frequency to voltage converter connected to an analog meter.
