I'd like to get into this hobby but before buying my first, I would
like to get an informative "beginners" book to learn the basics. Can
anyone suggest something useful preferably that I can get in Australia.
Thanks Steve

Hi Steve,

Check out:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/103-1788492-5195025?url=index%3Dstripbooks%3Arelevance-above&field-keywords=RC+Helicopters&Go.x=15&Go.y=10

That's what came up on a search on Amazon.com. I'd also "highly" recommend,
Ray's Authoritative Helicopter Manual. It's been around for a long time and
is well respected.

You can get it at:

http://www.helihobby.com/html/rc_helicopter_training.html

Scroll down till you find it, it's toward the bottom. There's also a DVD
version that I didn't know existed until now.

Good luck & Fly Safe,

Care to elaborate??

I purchased a DVD that was defective. I've placed 3 LD calls, and 5 emails.
No replies to the emails, and the LD calls throw you to voice mail and the
mail box is full. Tried for 3 weeks. I finally filed a complaint with the
BBB. I simply wanted a working DVD.

Upon research, I find out I'm not in the minority here.

Ahh.. I think you mentioned that problem several weeks ago.

First time I mentioned it here. I wanted to give them every chance to make
this right. I've given up hope now.

Oops, my bad. Got you confused with someone looking for AMA DVDs...
Sorry.

For the record folk, I'm not promoting HeliHobby. I've never done business
with them. I just did a web search and they came up. I'm sure there are
other venders that will work.

I really do prefer Ray's book though.

Fly Safe,
Steve R.

Many older DVD players can't play non-compliant discs. Try it on a different
player, in the PC, or on an XBox. All the same, the seller should always
make good on a purchase that can't be used, which is a big can of worms for
easily duplicated A/V material or software. Their unresponsiveness is a
problem. I would be pissed, too.

I have 6 computers, and 4 home DVD players that all give the same results.

Even though the production kind of sucked, that's my problem. The disc
should at least play. I would have felt better if they at least answered my
email. The fact that their voicemail box was always full told me something
was up.

18 complaints on BBB, and the end results was that HH failed to respond to
any.
