You all have to try this game. It plays from the internet. Play it at home or at the office. Someone just forwarded it to me and for some strange reason, I'm hooked.

This is the REAL sim! thermalling in a 1:1 glider, with vario, Ipaq (GPS),... Just the same as a 1:1 glider. The graphics are exelent!! You can only fly with the best gliders, for example asw 27, nimbus 4, ventus 2, discus 2c, asw 22 and many more. So if you want a real thermal game => buy it :D It's only 40$ And maybe I'll see you during a multiplayer contest
Later!

How much is that in $US?
That progrma looks very nice, interested in flying in an online meet :) Do pilots use TeamSpeak program for radio contact?

Yes, the pilots use teamspeak. actually it's chatting (maybe in future you can talk with a headset) . You can buy a CD or you can download it. The CD costs 47$ and if you download it, it's 40$ (It's all on the website ;) )

Talking to eachother with a headset is always possible on the internet. There are special free software aplications developed for this and very well known amogst internet gameplayers. For example:
http://rogerwilco.gamespy.com/
One can host a channel and invite other players on that channel, for example the pilots who fly in the same gameset.
I flew years with this stuff while doing WWII fightersims, our team had RW on so we could fly together and stay in touch speaking, hands on trottle and stick, feet on the pedals, it became an obsession :) Had a cold turkey stopping this :)

Yes, Teamspeak and RogerWilco are downloadable and are just running in the background while you play any game.
I was interested in the cost US$, All I could find on the web was the price in Euros. I'll have to see. Looks really nice.
Very interested in it, especially if I can host some teamspeak. Perhaps we'll have to start up a "team" :) Whos "game" :) Saturday nights 8pm Pacific? :)

Hello Dean,
I just purchased a license online. The price is $51.40 USD for the online download. Broadband is needed due to the file size. If you setup a game server, I am sure more will join in the fun.

PHAT2Wheel-
Cool, I figured the exchange would factor in. I know we could set up a server here, and it looks like there are a couple other US servers for it... Hmmm....
NOCASH- Yes, www.redwoodsoaring.com is the link to the local club. Also, www.humboldtwings.org is the Hanglider club. Between those two pages, you should get to see the flying sites :) There are a couple of RC sailplane pilots in Garberville. Email me and I will make sure you get on the email list.
Exciting Times!

Hello Dean,
No problem setting up a server on my PC if only I can figure how to do it. I need to upgrade my 4yrs old VAIO first. The graphic card could not render the scene very well. The game is addictive, much better than MS FltSim. You will love it.

Anyone interested in joining a race using the current list of servers from Condor's website? I am thinking of the Speedrace 15M or 18M. There are no few penalty and the emplasis is on speed. The tasks include huge thermal along the course. It should be fun.
PM me to arrange for time.

Hello Fernando,
I am having the same problem as well. I find it more difficult with open class (20+m) since the plane is less responsive. More than a few times the tow line broke so I had to find thermal and get up to altitude.
I will be joining one of the speedtask (15M or standard) on this Saturday morning. have fun.

I'm a 1:1 gliderpilot so => Towing (No wind or headwind) : When you're on the ground and you are rolling, use your stick only to keep the glider straight and to keep the nose. Use your feet (rudder) to ride straight begind the towwing plane. When you have enough speed, you're glider will fly, you don't have to pull up. When you're airborne, fly +-2 m above the ground till the towplane is airborne. Then when you both fly, keep the Towplane before you at the horizon. Don't go higher or lower. When you go to high, you will lift the tail of the towplane up and it won't climb anymore. When you go to low you'll be in the propwash of the propellor. Turning: when the tow plane turns, just wait one sec, then you can turn. Keep the same Bank angle as the towplane before you. Normaly when you're doing it correct, your nose is pointed to the left wing (when you're in a right turn) and to the right wing (when you're in a left turn). You still have to keep the towplane at the horizon!! When there is turbulence, you'll go up and down behind the towplane. Try the to keep it at the Horizon! You can release when you're at a safe hight (you can make a cercuit for landing), in a thermal or when the towplane gives a sign to release (waggelwings).

There is a scheduled US based competition server setup for Monday night next week. Follow this link (http://forum.condorsoaring.com/viewtopic.php?t=2689) from the Condor Soaring forum for further details.
Frank setup for upto 16 pilots, I think, so there are plenty of slots open. See you guys there.

Good flight Matthias. Good overall placement too. I finished the Standard class last night, dead last. Not too bad for a beginner . Lannded out today in the standard class. Too greedy with speed. :o
I had another race in the X3 server. I got within sight of the finish line and the game crashed. I think they need to fix this problem. I think I was in contention to finish in 2nd place.

You have to use Mcready! If you use it, you can fly with the best speed to another Cumulus. There's a buuton "flight school", there you can choose the button "Mcready". They show you how to use it.(in real life using Mcready is much more difficult then in Condor ;) )

Hello Matty,
I used it a few times. One problem is you have to enter you best MC estimate. Say I punch in 3.5. At next Cu there is only weak lift or no lift. No thermal. I am screwed. Sometime during the course, there are huge thermals but no Cu around. It's not easy.
So what is the easy way to estimate MC? How does MC differ in 1:1? I noticed that when cruising on MC, the needle will increase pitch as though I am going too fast. In fact I trimmed the plane to travel at say a constant 90 knots.

That would be ideal, I don't have pedals just force feedback joystick with rudder twist.
