From what i saw, they carry just a very limited stock of GWS Stuff, mainly planes and certinly not all of the models. tissan haifa has little more stuff like servos etc but still not alot of stuff.

I get almost all my GWS stuff from Aircraft-world. Some I still get from Shai at Hashmal BeAvir, because I can get there easily on my way home from work. He's got very reasonable prices on the GWS products.

I don't think that it is possible that in Israel the prices will be the same as in the U.S....
eran_k
Feb 09, 2006, 09:58 AM
Why not?
it's not a U.S manufactured Product,it's also imported from the far east so why shouldnt the price be the same?
you know what - even if it will be 10% higher i can live with that but the current prices are usually more like double the U.S price and that is unaccetble by me.

As long as it the price gap is "Unfairly" high i'll keep buying online.
i'll be the first one to support a local shop if the prices will be reasonble.
here's another exanple for ya
i want to buy a chaepo bruslhess ESC and a 1200-1500 3S battery
on a certin website it will cost me 61$ including shipping to israel
I called "Spped control" over here and they want 260 NIS for the ESC and another 270 NIS for the battery, so 530 NIS in total, even if i calculate 1$ as 4.7 NIS it comes to ~112 $, without postage. i'm talking about the exact same products!!
I'm sorry but with all good will to support our local shops thats just too much.

As Reneh said, the shops are paying not only the cost of the product, but also the shipping, VAT, which only those 2 rise the price by 20%-25%, they also need to make some money for themselves...
The store owners aren't responsible (except for 1 shop that I won't mention, who earns something like 50%-100% for almost every thing he sells) for the high price, it's the state that takes a very high percentage for anything that is imported....
And on the other hand you are right, because it's cheaper to buy on-line! I do it, and many others!!
Regards
Eitan

But dont forget that the initial cost of the product for the shop is lower then retail,so even with the added cost of tax and shipping the price shouldnt be doubled.

Eran, I totally agree with you.
You have to be reallistic, though. There's no way a retail store will ever compete with an online only store. Once a serious online store opens up here, things may change. None of the existing are serious, at least when it comes to Electrics.
In the meanwhile, shop online, and encourage others to do the same. Free market forces will do the rest.

I agree, even in the states the prices in the small hobby shops are higher then the prices online and thats understanble.
BTW Zerogravity is an online only shop!

By looking at their web site, you see it's not a serious store.

The only serious store in Israel is "Hashmal Ba Avir", and lats just say that it's cheaper to order from London + paying the VAT and all the other payments.

lets discuss this important issue once and for all...
"Why do we need stores in the 21st century, when we can buy online?”...
There are few reasons to buy online:
1. Buying online is, in most cases (for small stuff).. Cheaper.. Much cheaper (!)
2. convenient.. Few clicks, and I get very low prices, and a big selections to choose from..
Why buy in a conventional store ?:
1. We, as humans, are impatient.. We want it here, and we want it now!
2. We like to touch and feel our toys. To get to love them (or hate them).. It’s all about manifesting our dreams!
3. We like to see more of our friends around, so we can share our feelings..
4. We can listen for others which comes to buy, and hear from their experiences..
5. Instant gratification: I want it.. I drive over.. Pay, and go to sleep with it on the same day.
i buy most of my small stuff online...
it's so easy, it's cheaper, it's few days away, and i get latest models..
BUT.. if i would have a good local, physical store, that I appreciate the owner to be very professional in it's field, which does it's best to learn the local market, and he knows where to buy stuff cheap, and(!) order what we would like to have, and will NEVER "sell" us what we "need" (the model he can't get rid of for the last 6 months..) , i would pay VAT and even extra, because HE WORKED FOR IT, and HE HOLDS INVENTORY, but never again i will pay 100-200% more then i can get online, for a store which holds old and obsolete models.. never !
It’s all about the store atmosphere!
i would like to meet my friends in that store ( one might call it a type of a ..club?)
And talk.. Laugh, share our flying stories, buy, and go home.

Jellyfish, welcome to RCG! Are you a local flyer (it helps if you enter your location)?
I agree with most of your post. You forgot only one thing. He (the LHS) should serve coffee...;)

What kind of stuff are you looking for?
if it's electric stuf then i can recommend these two sites as THE BEST to deal with
www.aircraft-world.com - great quality products,cant beat the 2.5$ shipping.
www.espritmodels.com - hugh selection, good prices, reasonable shipping cost compared to other u.s based sites

BEWARE
Postage from Europe is often more expensive then from the US, unless you use EMS or Fedex

Dear Mr. Lin,
Please correct me if I'm wrong. You have a nice line of short & mid-range receivers. All of which are PPM. I think long-range (1000m) receivers will be welcome. Spread-Spectrum 2.4G will also be nice to have soon. I'm quite sure I am going to move to 2.4G later this year.
