A question to our Russian rcgroups posters: What would be the Russian term for UNI-GRAPHITE STITCHED 4.5 Oz. / Sq. Yd.?

I have a friend whose relatives are coming to the US in February and may be able to bring some carbon fiber with them.

They are near St. Petersburg.

Spasibo!

Hi greyhound flyer!
What does 6K mean there?

UNI-GRAPHITE STITCHED 4.5 Oz. / Sq. Yd.
Unidirectional 6K fiber is held in place by a stitched glass yam. When bonded under 1.4 Oz. fiberglass it will produce a suitable open class glider wing. As with all our unidirectional materials, it is easy to handle, cut and wet out with EZ-LAM epoxy resin. Available 12" and 38" wide.

The meaning of 6K is the only thing I can't understand clearly. :)

Кто нибудь знает, как это по русски коротко называется? Угольные нити, переплетённые под 90 град. стеклонитями, как на на этой фотографии:

The Russian term for UNI-GRAPHITE STITCHED is ODNONAPRAVLENNOE GRAFITOVOE POLOTNO ARMIROVANNOE STEKLONITKOI.
The analogous Russian stuff is called ELLUR 0.12 (ЭЛЛУР 0,12).

Hi Palar,

6K refers to the number of strands in each tow that is either in the single direction or the weave. Therefore 3K would have a tow with half as many fibers as a 6K tow. A smaller tow size makes a fabric that is easier to handle before the resin is applied.

Thank you very much for your response. You wouldn't happen to know of a hobby shop or composites supplier in St. Petersburg would you?
