I'm very interested in building a high quality wireless video aerial platform with a pan-tilt camera controlled by a PC based head-tracking HMD. Whew, what a mouthfull.

I already have a programmable microcontroller http://www.lynxmotion.com/Category.aspx?CategoryID=66 that has plug'n'play R/C style inputs/outputs and a serial interface. So I could use a 900 MHz serial transceiver between that and the PC. Write an API for one of the existing HT HMD's or TrackIR.

Another question... Is it possible to use a PC to drive a regular airplane Tx? I.E. hook the Tx up to the PC with the trainer cable or something and control the airplane from the computer over a standard R/C Tx/Rx.

Another possiblity would be an 802.11 or 900MHz interface maybe?

Thanks for any info!

I have worked with a lot of head trakers. I recommend the InterTrax2 or something from Isense Inc (http://www.isense.com/products/pro/)

Most affordable head tracker have Drift(Intertrax 2) the more expensive ones have a magnetometer to help them with drift. You are going to want one of these. Also Some head trackers doe not rotate the entire 360 degree more like 300 or 270.

If you need help with an API for the head tracker let me know.
Intersense has a RS-232 based model the InertiaCube2.

I highly recommend this tracker Interesense should be able to help you integrate this into your system.
