Hey,
I haven't seen a real "lets go flying" post for electrics lately, so I thought I'd start this one.

The long range forcast for next Sunday the 22nd, shows a warm, dry and calm wind day. If that forcast holds, we should plan to meet for a group electric fest.
Lets hear from you guys.

I'm game, and my son says he could use the stick time as well. Do you have a particular site in mind?

Sunday sounds good to me. Lately I prefer the NDD site. I love the track for ROG and hopefully someday touch-n-goes and even landings. But the soccer goal posts at Horizon Elementary terrify me!

I understand the Athens folks with their local aerodrome, are unlikely to want to come way over here on a weekend, unless, of course, it's for sloping. But the good news about that is that some day when the weather gets really nice and they invite us, we can all go over there on a weekend to experience their aerodrome.

Could you share your source for such a long-range wind forecast. Launch Code is great, but it does not seem to go out nearly that far with either model.

Where is the NDD?

The long range weather report I use is WeatherUnderground.

I believe NDD is means North Discovery Drive. You have already flown there before Dave. I was out there once with you while you flew some extremely fast wing. Very impressive I might add.

Thanks for the claification. NDD is indeed my intention. When Rob wrote Discovery North, I thought he meant North Discovery Drive. NDD has the power substation and gravel road, right?

Thanks so much Dave for the link. I've been using WeatherUnderground for years, but I never found that long-range forecast.

I will try to make it! Can I bring gas too? Or just electric? I have a friend that has gas and I'm sure he would like to fly if the site is nice?

Thanks,
Caleb

Sorry, no gas, no runway.

We have been flying the past few weekends at Mt. Carmel Elementary/Riverton Middle School. It is on Homer Nance off Winchester Rd. There is a huge grass field for every type of plane (Including my 1/4 scale CUB) and takeoffs in any direction!

If anyone wants to meet there sometime, let me know.

Caleb,
I'm planning to be there in the morning, because the winds and chance of rain increase after lunch.

So, lets plan a 12 noon meeting time. If the forcast changes for the better, then we push it to 1pm so the late church goers can come too.

The winds will be 2mph, the temp will be 53F, and the chance of rain is 42%.

Who's coming and what time are you coming. That 12 noon is just me talking.

I've been hopefully watching the weather forecast and the discussions here about Sunday flying all week.

This AM the LaunchCode prediction is less good than I remember it earlier. So I'll continue to watch the weather and also my wife's plans to see if it will be possible for me to fly. The rain we've had and may get more of may make the flat and slightly rutted North Discovery Drive field soggy.

I made a Tx hanger/mod to my DX6 for use with a neck strap, and am looking forward to see if that reduces the pilot workload sufficiently to make flying my SS more easy and fun. Also I screwed the rear servo bracket to the fuselage to stop that from moving around and affecting my trims. Hopefully I'm getting closer to being able to trim and actually fly the SS.

GHCC sez winds are 9 gusting to 15. That's above my wind limits. I'll keep an eye on the wind and may go later. From the radar it looks like the drizzle has passed for now but another small cell is coming up from the south.

Todd,
You missed some fun. Dave, Don, Rob, and myself were out there flying slingers, easystars, a wildthing, a slowstick, and a 2-meter glider. Dave took lots of pictures. The rain ran us out at around 2:00.

Well folks we had another good morning of flight. Don, Rob and Ken joined me at the N Discovery field for some nice flights. The wind was calm enough to fly my SoSlo2, and the rain held off long enough for everybody to get their fix on the sticks. It looked very iffy driving over, but when I got there the drizzle stopped.

Here are some pics of the mornings.

Great video and sound editing!

I wonder, though, why the people in the movie don't ever seem to listen to the music and figure out what's happening, much less take steps to avoid it happening!?

Jim,
Watch the movie again, and just like a fine Shakespearean play, a tragedy, the first viewing does not tell the story.

The story is about two great pilots and their flying machines, one a large RE (that’s what I call it) with great blue wings, it rules the sky, when all of a sudden a challenger appears. They fly together sizing each other up for just the fewest of minutes before they do battle in the air. A battle of aero gymnastics, where it is common for this fight to end in death.

Twisting and turning the aerobats duck and swim through the great sea of gray, till the RE blinks and goes down. With great sadness we watch impact and destruction of the RE.

The Challenger, a flying wing, in triumph, swoops, rolls and loops through the sky and rules the air with total authority. He goes on to replicate himself and the audience is treated to see his offspring the SS2 gently take wing for the first time testing the ocean of blue..

Somebody stop me.......

Now watch it again!

And once again, great flying Don and Ken... that was too cool

**I think they were flying too close to the cars though (at least that's what I was told once)** :D

He is no longer, the ruler, of the gray skies.

You are an impatient one. You want me to tell you the ending of the sequel. I cannot.

Man the music adds so much drama. I was there and know that the atmosphere wasn't quite as tense as the video shows. Dave needs to bring the music and play it DURING the flying session next time.

Notice how the Easy Star pilot ejects after the impact. Bad timing

We had a great time. Just watching such outstanding pilots do their thing is a real treat.

Great job on the video Dave. Glad you left out the spectator duck and cover needed during my close fly by

EZ on 1900 2s2p and a old wattage Super 400 motor.
Slinger same cells with a Himax 2825.
Both at about 24amps.
Med speed, set up or duration and clime.
