Just a quick flight report from our slope session today. Five of us made the trek to the north slope. It was me, Dave, Don, Todd, and Larry. Let's just say the combat was pretty brutal and the variety of planes was great. We had a flying wiffle-ball bat, a Coyote (RIP), a Weasel, a Stryker, a Zagi, a Raider, an Overlord, a Moth, a Razor, a JW60, and a mini-Slinger. Fun was had by all and we brought our planes home. Some need a little more repair than others, but it sure was fun! Oh yeah, it was a little bit cold, but the NW wind was smooth and plentiful.
I think Dave and Larry will have some pics to post.
Wish more of ya could have joined us.

Nitro, just get you a $20 Stryker and throw some gear in it. It flies great!
Also, come join us even if you don't have a plane...warning, the slope bug bites hard!

The kids and I were in the van sitting in the turn lane on stringfield road at the base of the quary looking for some action...but it was only 11:15AM, so we went to RC Hobbies for some future shopping...I must climb the peak from Juniper mnt and see the action first hand.

Are you saying you've never done a dead-stick landing? Gliders require something to keep them up, thermals and slope lift do the trick quite nicely. If you wanna see this in action, browse the Sailplanes Video forum here on RCGroups. I've got a video of me flying my Stryker.

Andy,
It was a great day. I'm glad that you came. The north slope never disappoints me.
Nitro, You just have to make the hike sometime. You won't be disappointed.
Johnnie, We could not be seen from Springfield road because we were flying the north west side of the mountain. You would have had to drive around to the new by-pass to see us.

But you got to show up!
I think everything we flew hit everything we flew less Todd's Moth(too fast and nice).
Only one RIP(Coyote) as Andy said and yes Dave did it.
Cold and fun.
Here is a little of the action from my gallery.

What a blast!!! It is more fun than words can say!!! I can't wait to see about eight of us in the air at the same time, five is a blast and eight would be a chaotic blast!! This is a case of more is way better! Here are a few pictures of Dave, Don and Todd engaged in mortal combat, Ok aerial combat almost the same thing!!

Don T-Bone'd me!
The actual hit didn't do damage at all, but he put me high & far enough back that I caught a nasty rotor that threw over twoards "the dark side". Good thing a BIG boulder reached up and grabbed me, or I would have been DSing :D
Awesome pics, I could fill up my hard drive on these!

Don, Thanks for the vids.
Larry, Great photos.
You've got to admit, Us guys, we know how to have fun. I'm ready to go again.
Keep an eye on a pure south wind, and we will go to Normanday Dam.
On a SW wind, we will go to the Power Line Cut.
On a pure east wind, we will go near the Power line cut. I showed Larry this eastern slope on the day we flew PLC.
On a pure west wind, we take a road trip to Georga's Carter Lake.

With the wind as strong as it was up there on Saturday, you probably could have sloped with that :D

Dang guys...Now I have to seriously think about moving to Northern Alabama. I went sloping off of a dam (or in this case a dam :censored: ) and just didn't have the lift and my stryker got splashed. It got ugly from there, but I think my radio equipment is all good.
Oh by the way, I'm Larry's brother Dave, and when I come down for a visit, I want to slope with you guys.
**Darth Vader voice** --Nitro.....come to the dark side.....feel the power of the slope.....soon your training will be complete.

Hey DaveyO,
Good to meet you. LarryO's been telling me how he wishes you were here to enjoy our fun. I heard the story of his "slingers" demise at the dam while flying with you. He talks about you at every sloping opportunity. All good.
Tell us about your handle "thedrafter" (sic). Are you a drafter as in engineering, or a drafter as in racing? Or some other function.

I was going to be a draftsman drawing, and then decided to go into teaching. I use this handle for almost everything, and hate to try to remember anything else... :-) at the time I was trying to figure out a login name for a hotmail account, I tried 'thedrafter' but it was taken, and Larry was using phishaholic so I figured if he can PH something, so can I... I'm looking for an old oly to maybe come and fly your oly tourney this summer...it would be a blast.
Oh and if you ever see a big yellow lab at the slope who is yelping and chasing the planes, don't buzz him, he will catch it...and laughing only seems to encourage him.
