I built my first motor a while ago. It is a Komodo KH-278 1st version. It is a 9 pole with 16 turns of 24g wire and N50 magnets. It has extreme power and torque on a 3s battery turning a 1047 slofly prop. I don't think more than 1/3 throttle will be needed for my application. Maybe a 2s battery would be better.

My question is: What do all the numbers mean on all those other already built motors. I see Bm2408-21 for example. Each motor company has there own but they seem similar. How do these numbers relate to the how the motor is built and what it is suited for?
How do you know how many turns and what gauge wire is used?
How many poles?
How do you know if it is Star or Delta?

What motor designations will turn large 10"-12" props slow for scale flight?

About the numbers on the built motors each manufacturer has their own way to identify their motors most of the time the first 2 number are telling you the motor diameter, the second is the height of the motor and sometimes the last one is the number of turns.

To turn large props you want a good amount of turns I'd say more than 25 turns of 27 gauge wire on a sigle 22mm GB type motor.

Good luck.
