End result of a Stuka test. The stuka test is where you take your plane up to about 300ft, nose down and get as fast as you can, then pull up even faster.

Nice work. Good to see you testing the limits of your equipment.

Swoopdown,
Ah yes well, I learned not to quite do it so agressively in the future, I also learned to build stronger structures. These days I do the tests with my DLG's :)

Olmod,
*laugh* Extreme lipo-testing *cringe*. Expensive business that one. I only had to throw away one cell from that pack, I still have the other one lying around the house somewhere... hrmmm... probably should find it and check that it's behaving.... that original crash was from about 2004 era.

Looks like a game of "lawn darts". Let me find the picture of my plane thats shows what happens when you pull up, 3ft off the ground at just under 200klicks....

Stuntman,
Aw man, that looks like my egg shells in the morning after I've crushed them down. I see that even used kevlar/CF weave and all ---- that really must have been quite a loud "CRUNCH".
At least my failures were just $10 crunchies I made myself.... your prop looks to be worth more.

Yeah, it was just an aeronaut prop but still..... The motor lives on - it has a ding in the back from the cells, but that was the only damage to it and the gearbox thankfully, and the controller after a rebuild is ok too (just replaced the caps and the wires). The cells shorted on impact and started smoking and the RX pack also shorted melting everything down to the RX. So to say it was a smoking wreck is somewhat the truth.

This was my award winning PSS Canberra bomber.
This was also the catalyst to replace all my 15 year old Rx battery packs....

Looks terminal. Sorry for your loss, we have all been there, so we know how you feel. Hows the motor, looks like a shovel may have required to remove it.

Mike,
Wow, termites hey, turn your back for 5 seconds and boom, they've eaten away half of your plane :D
So, how did this happen?

After I wiped out my GWS foamie I lent my brushless setup (Himax 2025-4200 + gearbox & BESC) to a mate to put in his Zero. I'm not sure of the exact details, but he put it in so hard he managed to disintegrate the internals of the motor - the shaft won't even rotate - when I get a moment I'll cut the sucker open and see what happened inside...

I'm waiting for the day that I botch up a bank-and-yank (ie, over bank, yank too hard... pull up, pull up, CRUNCH) with my pylon racers, it's going to be a sad moment.

hmm, that crash was from radio failure, or thermal catching one wing, i cant understandd coz my mind whent blank , but it spiraled in from about 150 metres at full throttle, so yer - pretty fast, when it hit, it literally exploded, exactly the same as that Kangaroo crash video where he puts the wronge rudder input in KE, we foudn the engine in pieces 30 metres away, and the reciever got shredded, i finnally broke a prop ...
althouh its not nearly the worst ive seen at my club.
