At this thread their is info on my creation, yet to be proven airworthy: Quadra--Plane (rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=436841&page=1#post4792631)

I dont plan to fly this airframe much as it was half ass whipped together to show the concept. Thought I will give it a shot cause its worth a shot.
I definately plan to hover it though.

I am working on adapting a Micro Heli Hub and Fixed pitch blades so I can get the kind of blades I need as the APC SlowFlyer Prop is perfect but only if it se 15-16" and they don't make em so Im looking at some nice carbon blades that seem perfect just need to rig up a fixed pitch hub.

Since I do not need any movement I am considering even machining my own simple hub both a 2 and 3 blade. I just need to find a machine shop that will take such a small order as 16 pieces is not much.

I need counter rotation otherwise the wing movements will cause some fun gyro stuff but I am curious to find out how bad it will be. So Im considering the 3 blade so I can use the smaller blades used in the Coaxil tandem hellis hence having ready made counter rotating fixed pitch heli blades.

I have been putting off my next hover attempt with my new Futaba 14mz witch is suprizing less flexible and has lessing mixing capabilities than I imagined. Maybe Im missing something. I have done audio mixing and 3D animation mixing and I figured this radio would have more mixers in general and better grouping. Looks like their is no way out of getting a flight computer even for basic test :) MMMmm Pic programming.

Good to start a thread of it here,, I have been following yours too , athough it is not tilt rotor it is still great to see all the interest in VTOl's in general.Actually there are to many to keep up on all them .
It is interesting that you talk about the lack of mixes on the 14 Z ,,I almost sprang for one ,,but no one at Futaba would or could tell me if it would do what I needed and no one would give me even a little break on price to try ,,so my 7 yr od JR 10 X has 8 mixes and 10 channels that still does all I need for my V-22..I did buy an Evo 12 ,,but that had no free mixes in the heli mode...the airplane did ...so I had to program heli in airplane mode.

Yah only 10 Mixes am I missing something that is Lame. On a 14ch radio I should have at least 28 mixes.

I am going to contact them and inquire about a Development kit or something so I can creat my own model type.

I just dished out $300 for some Sweet Blades. I bought the Blades that are used in the DragonFlyer X-Pro (the $5,000 one) I am going to have my own hub made and Viola Problem Temporarily solved.
At $35 per blade I am going to have to look into alternative but at least this will give me something to start with and Quite honestly I could use these to make my own mold and start making my own blades.
I just cant image what $35 per blade gets me but Im sure its one hell of well designed blade Looks very thin and rigid for its thickness.

Wish me luck & the futaba guys are going to get a piece of my mind, unless they give ability to build my own custom model then I will hump their leg.

Well I think I was to quick to judge.
I am finding out a couple things and I might be eating my words I would just think that they would have Custom or blank Model type that would allow you to use all the resources allowing more mixing and custom functions as most other model types have all these built in mixers that are nice and convenient if you can use them otherwise they are using up resources that could be used.

Though it is not as customizable as I wanted it I think it is much better than the 9z. Now that I am figuring the interface out with a little help from the manual :)

Once I get over the learning curve I should be set hopefully that get me up and flying this week sometime.

It took me almost 6 weeks to learn the evo and get the mix I needed for the tilt
Good luck and keep us posted as to how the 14 z goes in the mixing area
