After reading a thread about someone who cooked a Hacker 30-28 I was wondering, could you not rewind the motor, just like a CDRom kit. I know that it could drastically change the character of the motor, depending on what guage and how many turns, but what is to stop you?
Thanks,
Gregg

P.S. I posted this in the Power Systems forum, but I think that it belongs here.

Not a thing at all! I would recommend that one count the turns on one arm of the stator AND use a micrometer to establish the AWG used.

I did just that, although with a cooked chinese A20 clone. Runs great. I changed the winds from Delta to Y winding, and from multiple strands to single strand for simplicity, but otherwise stuck fairly close to the original winding specs. So go ahead, a new motor for almost free!

How many magnetpoles in that Hacker and how many statorpoles?

As long as the wire is not to thin (the thicker the better) the character depends only on the number of winds.
