On my last day before returning from the holiday, I really wanted to get some more sloping and Larry agreed to go with me on a hike on Green Mountain. I call it the power line cut. I forgot how neat this place was, and both Larry and I were happy with our hike. The lift was fantastic. The place comes with a ready made limbo wire, to practice your half pipes. At some point in the day, the wind rose so much we had to land. The landing area up here is big and grassy. Its a little tricky and yet fun too. Here are some pictures of the day.

Glad to hear of another good local sloping site with a good landing area; and that you two had a great time. Thanks for sharing the photos.
I might try sloping if I can find a "handicapped-accessible slope site". :) But that's probably an oxymoron!

Dave, that looks like an awesome place to slope! I guess you can take advantage of the west winds where there isn't a very good place at the quarry. AND that surface looks a little more forgiving than the jagged rocks. I'd like to join you guys up there soon!

I think I spotted the place! I looked out the window at the mountain and saw the radio tower and cell tower...north of Green Mountain Road? I looked on Google earth and found the power lines going over the montain!!! Looks like a cool spot!
So how far a walk is it?

There are three ways to get there. All are long walks. My preferred way is to drive up Green Mtn Road. Stay left at the top, and drive around the lake. Park on the side of the road, and start walking. Since you've seen it on Google you should know the deal. If you don't, go back to Google and locate the lake and road about 3/4 mile south, at the top. You can see a well defined walking path across the top of the mountain.
DO NOT PARK AT THE END OF THE PAVED ROAD. If you do, you will hear about it from the resident of last house in that neighborhood. I can't stress this enough. There a place to park about 100 yards back (south).
The second way is to drive to the top 4 mile post extension, Cecil Ashburn Dr. At the top of the pass, there is a dirt parking lot provided by the city. Park and start walking. Its about a mile walk.
The third way, is to park at the bottom of the mountain directly below and under the wires. Put your tx in a backpack and with plane under your arm, climb the mountain. Its a big vertical climb. I've done it twice. Great views the whole way.
