mega shoe string project
Me I dont like broken equipment so when the project runs correctly in a simulated enviorment I can consider using these crafts and or others I have
3.1 metre scale Discus
not presently motored possible fixxed pylon glow motor .50mvvs
or most likely s700 direct 8*2400 or 3s 3200mha 20c kokam
2.3 metre old style aeronaut sinus f5b s600 gearboxxed cell as above
or OS fx 25 glow
I want to simulate every aspect wiring up of all components to flying locations chosen
the componets that look most likely will be gumstix probably have to buy that new and suitable gps and copilots and sensors and where possible other equipment sourced second hand
My computer is Apple g4 osx 10.4 and I propose to use flight gear
my lingo of preference will be objectiveC and xcode cocoa
but if nessary could change to linux based lingo such as c or c++
use gnustep
and get pc emulator
or get a 350mghz computer in dumped my attic to do windows 98
open to any suggestions
The pace of this project will not be racy as I have on line type of degree computer course in the evening that also is time demanding and so most work will be done in january (one month break) and summer may to sept
The first project is to get the glider to return to base and and do some sort of landing at the take off field to simulate total loss of rc contact to the glider and or loss of vision caused by cloud decending on flying site etc..
Later it will be used in more stressfull dynamic soaring enviorments to help in terrain avoidance at high speed :eek:
I am going totally open sourced in this
preference will be to develop something other can reuse on any platform linux osx wins etc
the uplinks will probably be wifi types and or radio link suitable for ranges of three miles so as to give new mission requirements if needed such as land in valley if return to original field isnt possible
I probably wont get involved with vidio feed back unless the price of that stuff gets less much less
