Try a DJ aerotech Chrysalis. The easiest build I have had to date and only $49. It will be more fragile though. Mine looks very promising .. can't wait to get it in the air.

May want to look at the Quick Flick II designed by PLDaniels and kitted by Laser Arts in Colorado Springs. I am in the process of building two of the short kits. Laser Arts has recently released a full kit for $60. I have not flown the airplane, but there is an excellent thread covering most everything in the hand launch section. The kit is excellent, laser cut with great fit and wood quality. Best of luck on whatever you choose.

Everytime I get a chance to promote Skybench, I do it. Good designs, good kits and Ray is a great guy to do business with.

Here's my Lil Bird:

The Lil Bird is a great kit and I have built one. It flies well and I enjoy it. That said, I built a QFII ploy and stretched it to 59 inches. I did not make it DLG. I eliminated some of the strength/weight used for DLG and added a small 3M ™ (tow) hook for use with Mini-Hi-Start. It is my favorite plane and it thermals better than the LB2 for me. It could be the skill of the builder/pilot but I think the stretched QFII-59 is a better choice for a HLG. It came out at 7.5 oz and the LB2 at 10.5 oz. That alone makes a big difference. I have not seen the full kit but I am currently building the short kit in full DLG stock form. The fit and quality is top-notch laser cut. You won’t go wrong with anything from LA or Skybench.
