Taking a cue from Model Boat Mayhem's primer on converting the Dickie Tug to true R/C, I started the project on a clone of the Dickie at lower price! It's called a Harbor Work Boat, and are found all over the Toy District of LA at $35.00. It's very seaworthy and a perfect conversion. For a detailed look of the modifications, go to:

Shown here is how I have adapted the Kort rudder to a proportional servo. Two of the original screw posts of the old "servo" match the servo mounting holes. A fairly simple change, but do make sure your linkage clears the deck. This setup clears with 1/16 to spare.
