If any of you guys out there are interested, I have three molds for Q500 fuselages. Two of them have a standard tail configuration, one short and one longer. The third is set up for a V-tail with internal linkage. If you are interested, I could lay up a few. The price would depend on the material. Plain E-glass is cheapest, but heavier, and of course carbon fiber is lighter, but much more expensive. Agian, if anyone is interested, let me know and we can discuss cost, delivery, etc.

So is the old Scat Cat 500 a Q-500 racer?

Yes, the Scat Cat was the hot ticket item in the 80's
you need to cut the tail and vertical stab down(too big), and shorten the nose by 1/2 inch before you build it to balance heavier engines.
At least that's what I did back in the day

Yea I have 3 of them That I got from my grandpa and the all have fiberglass fuse's and the tail is really small too. Havent flown any of them yet But I should get a .46 and finish one up.

I am in the process of cutting the peices for the quickie out and I just had a question,
Do you really need ply stiffeners or can I get away with just 1/4 inch balsa?

Opp's again ,I was away, sorry...
I think 1/4" by itself with a "normal" .40-.46 would be fine, might be tough to bend, maybe soaking with a little water might help
Skitty kitty's are made that way, things kinda evolved into the 3/16"+thin ply over time.
I assume your were able to work with the PDF? cool..

yea I took the mesurments and I drew the plans to scale!I will have my dad cut me a couple wings.
what do you think of shortening the fuse a couple inches and stuffing the batt in the tail?
what would you say a normal 46 would be? OS?

I have seen the creator of the seeker try such a thing, it was fast, but too twichy in flight.
He tried several protypes with the same wing before putting the Seeker to ink.
This fuse matchs what the airfoil has to offer.
I used a 270 mil pack and a Hitec 555 receiver and balanced it a fraction under 3 inchs back from the leading edge
I'll try to post some pics later on what I have going.
He's over on RCU, check out ncplracing.org too.

We do racing over the summer where everyone has to have a OS 46, new or old.
The 46AX with a 10-7 APC is the best combo.
but any glo with go will do. The Seeker is meant to have a pound of engine to balance out right.

what is his name on rcu?
I don't mind twichy as long as I can keep it on the deck!
what is the shortest fuse you have seen fly?

His name is Daven, he's a moderator on pylonuniverse.
his stubby went about an inch forward and maybe 6 inchs back.
It was an accident waiting to happen. Your fellow racers may have concerns
there's another RCU member, highplains, that ran a short quickie like 8 -10 years ago.
He's there too to ask stuff.
