Hi Guys,
I'm building my first cd-rom motor (the GBv from gobrushless.com). Untill now it was going great, I was putting the shaft into the bell, firstly it's gone in a bit wonkey, secondly it's loose, any ideas?
Thanks Matt

Have you glued the magnets into the can already? If not you can order a new can, In either case you can go with Don's setup. (I like this one.) http://www.strongrcmotors.com/Cans.htm He has cans with a prop saver soldered on. In this setup the prop saver holds the shaft. You can also order the aluminum jig and solder your own. I think you would need a new, longer shaft as well.
As you can see for the GBv kits you really have to accurately press the shaft into the can.

You can glue a prop adaptor to the bell. It will strengthen and true it up. I have used JB Weld and black CA and have never had any come loose. If this doesn't work for you, use the Strongrc cans.

Try a GWS threaded shaft and sandwich the bell between 2 nuts on the threaded part. As illustrated here.http://www.flyelectric.ukgateway.net/cdrom.htm

Matt,
All suggestions so far are fine, but I have a very good drill press and a spare GBv1.1 kit. If you want the shaft mounted in a new can and sent to you, I could do that for a small fee to recoup the kit cost. Mounting the magnets after seating the 3mm shaft in the can would be awkward, but still doable.
