Is there a kit out there for 300-400W do it yourself motors? Im going to be getting a X400 helicopter and would much rather build my own motor for it rather then just buy one. If there isnt a kit out there can some one recommend a cheap and desent motor prebuilt motor instead.

As far as I know there is nothing. I am however working on this exact project right now. I am just waiting for some custom curved magnets. I plan on testing it in a T-Rex. I will start a thread here once I get a few of them running and more importantly flying..

Check your pm.

I know of one now if you can put up with a constant 36A draw!!!!
That's WOT but plenty of thrust!!!!!

Once I get some more parts in I might come up with something better... ;)

keep me posted :) I hate buying things when I could build them myself.

That sounds pretty good. Do you have any info that you would like to share?

I don't know of any motor kits for a Speed 400 sized brushless (70-80 grams).

There's a bunch for speed 300 sized, though.

I have been flying my T-rex with a go-brushless GBX double stack ever since i got it. It has enough power for me, i even got it to roll. but if you want to do hard 3D you may want to use a triple stack.

Here is the thread with some info on the motor. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=351522
