truth be told, i've never really got out of the childhood thing, so i cannot really use the wee man as an excuse, but i reckon it's time to do the whole father son thing. think the plane is just about ready to take the plunge for my first flight this weekend.
hopefully the guys at the club can help me fine tune things
will keep the forum posted as to the progress? i make

Hi all....

been blown away by references to using Strimmer Motors, in boats & how to hop-up the power... last time I chatted about 2stroke porting/masking was with an Ex Speedway rider.... cooolll...LoL

looking on FleaBay for a 99p giveaway to steal the gear... and rustle up something interesting of my own....
im a proper 'salvager', I will spend a lot of hours building something (My pleasure) & give it to the Grandbairns... If they wreck it... no tears!

Actually, they like to see what I'm up to... gives them a sense of respect, if U follow....

Nice to see everyone so keen......

Leadbucket - so Indoor Flying and Boating are out for you then, pal??? Life is tough right? I have a lo of respect for true builders of something different - I'm currently working on a 6ft high RC LandYacht for when its blowing like hell here!!!!

Hi, M8 ;)

So then..... you planning on going to a beach or some grassed area??

I have seen vids of LandYachts, up on 2wheels.. hairy fun.. LoL

Yes.. I think that making something 'different', as you say, is a lot of fun. Lifes not a rehearsal

I will stick some more piccies if (like in my Newbie thread) as & when....

Leadbucket - here's a similar project to mine. I'll be using it on shale so the wheels have to folding scooter size. Spec: DX6i, Futaba servos (2), lipo, steering etc.

Gochaaa...

So you are constantly 'tacking' then? The sail is loose and you keep turning, to catch the wind.

Think yrr gunna have a lot of 'wheelies'.. LoL

seems to me:<(.... boats go side to side/ in and out : : : planes go up and down, too! U just get ... well, as the Vid shows...?

U sure its gonna be as much fun as you think?

Don't get me wrong, MAKING it is often 99% of the fun (sure is for Me:<) )

You can always make it into a Ketch, if you get bored (needs water..LoL)

Hi all. Another noob here, just to the south of Falmer down in Sussex. Wanted to give RC planes and gliders a go since I was a kid, sort of 30 years ago, but never managed it. Couple of years ago I bought a nitro stadium truck for my lad and we've had some good fun with that, but it only flies a few feet above the ground. Mate of mine is into planes and I started pratting around with a Microflyer or microfighter F22 - good fun for the few minutes it flies for, but it needs still air, and I find it tedious keeping it up. So, just bought an EHAWK 1500 and Spektrum DX6i radio set - just about to start putting it all together before traipsing off to see local bloke for a bit of proper training.

There seem to be plenty of potentially good flying sites around here - wonder if any of you fly down this way? Looking at places like Castle Hill at the back of Woodingdean, or Ditchling Beacon, or Firle Beacon, or the hills at the back of Telscombe Village. All nice open country with very few trees!

Welcome Pete!!! - You've got one of the best TX systems around. The main thing that we 'leccy flyers' watch out for is people (kids etc) that stray onto our field!! Stay safe - move to another site if it busy. But enjoy it for what is is....FUN!!!!!

Thanks for the welcome TP. I'll be sure to watch out for people. The hills at the back of me are all open downland with some lovely slopes and bowls and wide open valleys and barely a tree in site. It's always so quiet up there as well with only the occasional walker, horse rider or cyclist. Best of all, it's a 10 minute walk from home!

I'm looking forward to getting the glider together. Should be Monday all being well and if I get my D.Phil thesis submitted on time. Will be sure to post pictures of the build and then the flying site....and then the crash damage :D

Cheers again
