Hi all,
I am looking for the best 2.5m (max) RES thermal glider for local competition at my country. Any idea what to buy... Looking at the Art Hobby website, it seems like Thermic 2.5 m RES is the best available glider I can find.

Idea ?...

Hi LFG

It looks like no one is interested in answering your post so I will have a go.

The Art Hobby Thermic 2.5 is an excellent thermal ship for intermediate pilots particularly as a RES ship it can bridge the gap between trainer and the more expensive ships. More particularly so if you then buy the aileron version which is a good sloper and a mini F3J at a fraction of the price of the moulded ships. You can add the optional flaps for full F3J style flying.

I sell many fully moulded planes through my website <www.rc-sailplane.com.au> and I have chosen to build one of these nice little planes [sold as the Robbe Etalon here and in Europe]. You will find they have a dedicated following on this forum, try <http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3090933> for starters.

BTW what country are you in?

Merry Christmas

I looked into 2.5 last summer and found a couple of things (I think);

1) Art Hobby seems to offer by far the best value. No others are
even close. You can buy more "ship" but at three times or more
the cost, which arrive more as arf planes than Art Hobby.

2) I fly near a great slope here and our local club flys off a winch
spring/summer/fall so thought the Serenity 2.5 measured up the
best. Also Art Hobby offers all the individual "parts" for sale, great
for those "unexpected" ground impacts:D

I have built but not flown my Serenity, I have it together but my
radio needs replacing, something I knew was coming, so waiting
for Feb or so now and buying a new one.

I am planning to add an RES Thermik 2.5 this spring with spoilers.
I was very happy with Art Hobby's service and continued support!

The Charm RES 2.5 llooks good, Ukranian heritage. Raptor Aerosport is handling it now.

if you don't mind a challenging build, the Allegro Lite is a great 2M ship.... I finished one this Summer, and it's nothing but spectacular.

It's not really a kit, but you can get laser cut ribs and shear webs from laser arts, and the plans are available via Charles River Radio Controllers' site.

Much luck,
Brent

AVA 2,5m would probably be a killer if the max is 2,5m span
Not listed anyhwhere on the websites but I looked at one this summer in the booth of Barry Kennedy. Same good quality as the big AVA and comes with E-fuse also
