Does anyone have more info on this SEXY model?
http://www.ezonemag.com/articles/2002/may/sport/dcp03323.jpg
It was briefly talked about in the Pitch , Roll, and Yaw column by Steve Horney
What is this...a kit...kit bashed (plastic modelling term which means modified from an existing kit)...or scratch built?
Thanks
Bruce

Hi Bruce
I am the designer/builder of the Sea Stylist which is the first one out of the molds and was completed just in time for the Toledo show. Along with poor weather and having to travel for business I have yet to fly it. The following are some of the specs.
Scatch built fiberglass fuselage and nacelles, foam core wings with 1/16" balsa sheeting. A wingspan of 59 inches with 404 sq. inches of wing area. The balsa surfaces are covered with 3/4 oz fiberglass and epoxy and finished with Krylon paint. The ready to fly weight is 62 ounces. It uses 14 1400 ma nicads to power two 4.35 to 1 Graupner Speed 480's turning two four bladed ground adjustable 9 inch Varioprop propellers.
Hope that Helps.

Hi Mike
How many of your body parts have to be twisted to get a fuse and wing core out of you and how much money
Bruce:)

That is one KEWL model...Gotta have one! (You know my sign)
Money? Grass? (JUST JOKING!) Illegal body parts? (JUST JOKING)
It is lovely, lovely, lovely.
I should wait until you fly it and you tell how it takes off and lands, but...I could just mount it on the wall and Look at it!?
Naw.
So - Making more fuses and nacelles? I could do the rest....

Thanks for the interest. I hope to be able to provide a builders kit in the near future. I want to be able to fly it before I sell parts. At this time I don't have a price but will let you know once I get a feel for my costs and time. The existing molds are prototypes and not production quality however, I may consider selling some from these molds if there are no major mods required after flight tests.
I hope to make a single engine, pylon mounted, built up wing, vee tail version next. I'm concerned with the prop clearance on the twin.
If you want, you can e-mail me at m7070@accesstoledo.com so I"ll have your e-mail address on record.
Mike
I will try to include better photos in the future.

A very pretty airplane Mike. I would guess you could sell enough of them to make it worthwhile.

The Stylist Flies! First flight went very well. Model was very stable even though she seems to be a little tail heavy. Only able to make one flight but I will fly it more this week.

Mike Goolsbee,
Great looking bird. I really like it although a bit big.
Its very sleek. I have been pondering scratch building
this one. Problem is I dont have the airfoil or any 3 views
to speak of. I do have the original specs. Name is airshark I. It was a homebuilt kit from 1985. Died a slow death due to various problems. In big form the wingspan was 37.5 ft. Not much info on it on WWW. Not sure what did it in but I know 6 were completed and one crashed 2 yrs ago from turbulance departing after a lear jet? So says NTSB. Looks like its a good candidate for smaller version, maybe new airfoil. Or V tail and Minifan (Jetshark).
What do you think?

That's an odd looking plane kapos. I don't ever remember seeing it before. It must have died a QUICK death, not a slow one. I have almost all of the KITPLANES magazine sence 1989 and I don't know if I've ever seen it before.

Kevin,
The company folded about 1990. It was on the cover of
kitplanes pre-1989 though. I think the problem was the
kit was too hard to complete for builders. Flying Specs on
paper are phenomenal. 180 mph cruise, 48 mph stall,1700 mile range on 90 gal. ( thats 19 mpg!) with 200 hp Lyc. Prototype
did appear at Sun and Fun and Oshkosh a few times.

From my end I have one prototype and 2 on the building board.
When Im satisfied Ill go with the steve neill mould
plan. Vision is removable tail and engine pod so single
twin an jet share same fues. Current version is 38 in ws
with 9 in prop. Counter rotating props.

We must have retired about the same dates, and I see you are an ATC guy. Did you do that on active duty? I was a Weapons Controller, sort of an Air Battle Manager with lots of AWACS and ABCCC time, strangely enough.
Let me know when you need a beta builder!

I played phone tag with Mike Goolsbee a few months ago. Via voicemail, he said he was still interested in getting the Sea Stylist out. I won't give out his number here, but a simple Yahoo People Search for Mike Goolsbee in Ohio is pretty easy to do.
If anyone contacts him and hears something, please report back.

No, but it's been so long, I'm thinking of doing a knockoff. Not a copy, but close enough to be an homage.
Smaller though. I have two BB 350+ motors & GB just waiting for an airframe.
