Hi - I was wondering what brand and model of transmitter would be a good one to buy for boat use? I have built a Mirror sailboat from Climax models and am using a Futaba "Attack III" that I bought at a swap meet. It doesn't even have servo reverse (if I had known that I wouldn't have bought it). I would like to get something with more channels for scale boats that would have more functions and something that is made more specifically for boats if possible. Is the Ace Nautical Commander still made? Any other ideas? Thanks

The Ace Nautical Commander has been out of production for a while. Ace & Thunder Tiger are releasing a "new" Nautical Commander (http://www.acehobby.com/ace/ACE8701.htm) soon.

Bob,

The new radio looks great. No longer the 1960 looks. I wonder what the price tag will be?

The only other radio in this class would also be the Robbe F-14

Marty,

I'm guessing the price will be around $200. I'll check with work tommorrow and see if I can get a better idea of the actual price.

Chech for Futaba F series F14 / FC14 or FC16, they have the option of "Navy Twin Stick" for twin screw ESC control, 8 channels can be expanded up to 38 channels for scale boat functions (for sailors, genoa module available)

That series is made by Futaba (partially?) but sold under the Robbe name. At this time, only the F14 is sold with a US-legal ground freq of 75 MHz. Maybe the others can be converted? Also check with Al at Ships n'Things, www.shipsnthings.com
