I don't compete, but purchased this plane for the (many) light slope days and odd flat field that we do in our club.

The plane is a Hybrid Detect from Hot Avia. It's not name name that I'd heard of before, but I was very pleased with the quality when it arrived from John at Gogliding.net (extremely nice guy, up there with South Coast Sailplanes for excellent UK retailers).

It has a 3.4m span and is of built up and composite construction, not unlike a Graphite, with a carbon kelvar leading edge, carbon capped ribs and a glass/kevlar fuz. All off the servo wells are carbon, as is the trailing edge. The flaps, inner and tip ailerons are all knuckle jointed, with no draggy gaps.

The build was relatively straight forward, the only time consuming bit being the wiring loom for ten servos.

The gear spec is as follows:

Flaps and ailerons HS85MGs
Air brakes JP Super Naro BBs
Tip ailerons JP feater servos
V-Tail HS56s
RX Multiplex 9 channel IPD synth
RX batt 2100 sub 'C' Ni Cad

Maiden next week, all being well.

Some pics, which I hope will be of interest.
