I have stripped two HS56's on my TREX (totally my fault, I messed up the CCPM settings and stripped them :o ) I got the Karbonite gearset, and started to rebuild them. Well that leads too my questions:

How do you get the ball bearing off the main horn gear?
Any particular orientation on the main horn gear tab?

Thanks

Use a real sharp flat bladed driver or blade on it. Then switch to a needle nose. It will come right off.

Three years later, and I had the same problem!
I figured I wasn't the first person to hit this, but my LHS had no solution.
Hitec sells the gears for the HS-56, but not the bearing, and it was unbelievably difficult to remove the bearing from the HS-56.
Even the pros at my LHS couldn't get a #11 blade underneath it to pry it up.

I've done it 3 or 4 times on HS-65 servos, and it was difficult, but reasonable.
My LHS had bearings that were close, but were .5 mm too tall. :(
I destroyed the bearing on my first attempt, so now I am up a creek.
Anybody know where I can pick up a bearing w/ these specs:
- Inner diameter: 5 mm
- Outer diameter: 8 mm
- Height: 2 mm

On my 2nd servo, I finally got it, after mutilating the surrounding gears w/ cutters and a drill bit, and then forcing a hot-knife between the gears and bearing. I think the hot-knife was the key. (basically a #11 blade on the end of a soldering iron)

N8, I seem to remember I had good luck with the Number 11 razor to get it off.
Regarding where to get the replacement bearing, HiTec use to really monitor this forum. I have had Hitec send me replacement antenna's just by posting in this forum. Try sending a PM to "MikeMayberry " username.

I finally pinged the list at my local flying field (Rancho San Antonio, Los Altos, CA) and one of the very cool guys there had some old (chattering) HS-56 servos that he was willing to give me for parts.

Thanks for the reply!
