It is one of the original 6 PRS guitars A.K.A. "Magnificent 6" that were hand made by Paul for the 1985 NAMM show in New Orleans. There are pictures of Al Dimeola and Carlos Santana with this guitar from the NAMM show floating around somewhere or so I have heard. These six guitars AKA " The Magnificent 6 " are covered in this article by Rick Hogue in his collector article here : Modern Investor. The guitar has a history and I am the original owner. I was one of the first PRS guitar reps in the USA. I fell in love with it the second I saw it in the booth. Right there and then I knew I had to have it, after much prodding and begging Paul agreed to sell it to me on the condition that I would not use it as a rep sample since there was a paint blemish on the neck . It was one of the prototypes for the series now known as "Metal" I don't think he wasn't really sure it would be in their lineup. Low and behold everyone went nuts over it and it became a mainstay of PRS for several years. This is an extremely rare piece it is pre serial number and handmade, even the pickups were custom wound by Paul and the paint job was executed by Bud Davis, It is in near pristine condition with the exception of a 2mm ding that Ted left in it above and between the pickups (visible in the closeups) and some paint wear on the head stock. This guitar is original and unaltered, repaired or modified in any way. More pictures are available upon request I am accepting offers on this piece beginning at 25K in addition any offer must include a PRS Guitar valued at no less than $1800.00 and in the Standard, Custom or Metal configurations with a transparent color or custom color similar to the one on this guitar (NO Gold Tops or Solids) A 20th Anniversary custom is acceptable, must have a trem. You must provide pictures and descriptions of candidate guitars with your offer. This is one of the rarest PRS Guitars in existence there were not 10 made or 200 made like many other collector pieces, there is only ONE Pre Serial # like this one, there were other later "Metal" guitars with this paint job but none like this. The other 5 of the "Magnificent 6" are in private collections and will probably never see the light of day again. It is an important historical piece. More pictures available upon request. I have not opened the cavity or removed the pickup rings and I am hesitant to unless absolutely necessary. Please feel free to contact me with any questions prior to making an offer. Don't step up if you are not prepared to put up. Dont make offers based on what you "might" be able to scrape up don't waste my time and I won't waste yours. This the genuine article. I finally have the nerve up to sell it so snag it before I back down. close ups here http://eam.net/PRS1/PRS2.htm
