Hi Everyone,

After seeing some pics from the U.S. about a swap meet, it look slike it could be a good way to get some new gear, and get rid of some old gear as well.

Is there a annual swap meet in sydney that anyone knows of?

Maybe one of the bigger clubs could host it at their field one weekend?

Just a thought.

Cheers.
Brett.

good idea, as long as all the auzzies can find this forum, we can organise something.

There is usually quite a big meet at one of the central coast clubs in Easter. Mainly glow oriented though.

If you want to propose something or even get the idea up and running I will add it to the AEFA Newsletter and spread the word amongst the E-troops as well.

I am a member of AEFA. I think an E swap meet would be great. Lets organise it. Also we need some more E flight events. We could start with some more E flight fun fly days. Suggest we rev up clubs anywhere from Newcastle to Wollongong.

I think the best way to move forward with it, and make it as big as possible, would be to not limit it to just e-flight, or gliders etc.

Personally i fly electric and slope gliders, so would be interested in both.
I also know a lot of guys who fly gas planes and also fly gliders.

I think it would be best to have it in Sydney, and ideally somewhere with a park, or at a club field, so there could be a fun fly as well.

Could be a good fund raiser for a club too, could maybe charge 5 bucks for a spot at the swap meet, and 5 bucks to enter into the fun fly.

Could be worth while getting the hobby stores to come along with some specials as well, kind of like a field day, more than just a swap meet.

Swap meets are common at alot of flying clubs, I know belrose does one or two a year. It's been a while since the club I'm in did one but they are fun.

Hi Shawn - reading the various threads and came across your reference to AEFA Newsletter. Is this a free subscription or a club based publication? I would be interested to join if you can post the subscribe address. Much appreciated. Gluggy

Right On Mav!

It needs to be free to come.

We could possibly make it so a donation for having a stall (or whatever its called) could be collected, and given to a charity. No set value on the donation.

It should be promoted to all rc disciplines. Air, Land, Water etc.... This means lots more people.

The hard bit will be finding a suitable site, that won't require hire fees. Obviously a model club field would be ideal.

Any suggestions about this?
