Hey all you slopers,
This weekend the winds are from the west. Dec 12th or 11th?
Saturday WSW 7 mph
Sunday WNW 11 mph
I like the sunday direction and the speed is greater too. What do you say, whos up for sloping this weekend?

I'm still holding my breath as to Sunday, but I know that my Saturday afternoon is fairly booked. Saturday morning looks good for parkflyers...

Take some flying pictures if you do find a slope. Also, take good notes of where you fly, if its any good.
You are going to miss the good NW wind.

10-4.. Sunday is looking best. I'm hoping it turns more to the north, but we will make due.
Any newcomers want to visit, let me know? I warn you, its addicting.

Yeah, NW wind is so smooth up there! Oh well...
Did you see my "slope sites in smoky mountains" thread in the slope forum? I mentioned Raccoon mountain...check it out on google earth...very nice-looking slope on the west side.

I just looked at launchcode and it says 10mph at noon on Sunday. Lets shoot to arrive at 11 fly till 2 pm or whenever you get tired.

Sunday wind forecast just got better. 13 mph and the span is 6 hours. Direction is still WNW.
I want to hear from some of you "wish I went" guys. Who's going?

Thanks! I don't remember any such music or such odd-looking folks when I want to observe sloping two weeks ago. But regardless, it's really something!

it makes a little more sense if you saw the original video months ago. Long explanation here:

Rocket_jim: Yes, the truth ... Truthfully, were were showing you our best side that day you went sloping with us. OK just kidding.
Jon: That's a funny funny video. Thanks for sharing. I've read the background websites you linked, and I'm amazed at shennanagines that is going on with this guy.
I'll be humming that song on Sunday.
Aside from the most excellent music, that airplane, really flys.

Hey local sloper experts..
Any of you guys think this bird - http://www.gundersonaerodesign.com/products/s1.htm
Would be able to fly out at the quarry?
I know it's a crunchie.. but... I need to know if it could fly out there.. :D

There I found: The foreplane is designed to absorb energy on tough slope landings and is easily replaceable, in fact the kit comes with two.
A plane designed for CRASHING. How Innovative! Now if it only had a motor!

Tram,
On a good day with a NNW wind, you could fly a baseball bat with wings. I'm sure this plane above would fly, but the more important question is could I land it without damage? You see at the quarry, there are terrific wind currents in the landing area. I have made some decent landings up there, but just as I think I've mastered the landing, the next next attempt will bounce. That's a neat sloper.

You said it. it's a crunchie. It will fly, and it will land. The question is.. do you want to "land" more than once? :D

Ok guys.. thanks for the help..
Let me ask another question.. Would some of you expert sloper guys be interested in pitching in on a "flight review" of the bird? :D
