Have you actually found one, if so where?

I've been looking and calling about them for some time now with no luck. I did read an on-line source, but at a price....

I've seen them in Toys-R-Us in Florence and in Huntsville for $25. They even had them at Target the day after Thanksgiving. Not sure if they have them now.

If you guys are interested in a cheap micro flyer, you might want to consider the Thunder Preserver sold by Balsa Products and available at R/C Hobbies. They're $30. The thing that puts these above the air hogs is they have replacement parts available. Rick carries the wings, props, tails, and I think the motors. Andy and I both have a Preserver and have got more than our money worth out of them.

Who would be caught dead flying such a Rookie-Looking plane!

Rick sells them, but he's not complimentary about them when I asked. Of course it could be because they are so inexpensive, they have a tiny light-weight rudder actuator, probably indestructable, and you can buy a spare battery to charge while you fly. If it's enough fun, you might not buy the bigger, more expensive "real" planes and break them against the light poles and quarry boulders.

I've got one going under "the tree." I have seen alot of Air Hogs birds try and fly.. So far, this is the first to be able to be worthy of my time.. :)

I hear they are tons of fun and almost impossible to break..

Do they have a rudder actuator? I was under the impression they used differential thrust to turn?

They are differnetial thrust but quite controlable. I flew mine today for the first time. Needed 4 small servo mounting screws from an HS55 to be screwed into the front of the nose to get it more nose heavy to cut down on porposing. I did not install the stickers maybe that would have helped some.

It flys in my small tree lined front yard area. About 20 by 60 feet. I only ran into 3 different trees about 8 times. No damage. Once it is adjusted it flys well. Now that it is adjusted it is quite controlable even in that small of a space. Would not be much fun in a livingroom as you would be in a constant turn and may not climb enough to stay up.

The throttle speed controls the rate of climb. Differential thrust controls the left and right quite well.

Lots of fun. 10 minutes or so of flight and then 15 minutes charge time from the controller. Pusher props so no prop breaks and no damage as it is very light. It is only 20.6 grams (.72 oz) with the added screws and is 9 inches wingspan by 9 inches fuselage. Uses real forgiving EPP foam for the fuse and wings.

Well worth the $30.

I haven't made it to HSV TRU lately to see if they have any, but if you find one, then this print it yourself coupon might help!

Just 2!!!!!

Emotionally I want one, but I have seriusly overspent my Christmas money already, so I must realistically pretend I never saw what you said. I'm sure someone else will want one or both of them, that is if you can bear to part with them.

The Target in SE Huntsville has 5 left on the shelf. I got a B channel Heatwave 18. The name sounded good since it is mid-winter.

The rechargeable AAs for the Tx are in the charger now.

I bet these would be great for indoor flying. We have a thread going on indoor also.

Rather interesting site. But it seems that if you like the plane and IF can find some locally (a big IF), that it would make more sense to just buy several than to buy separate repair parts. Of course, YMMV.

Friday night we had an Aero Ace Indoor Fly In!

Dad, Andy, Matthew, and me had our Aero Ace's charged and ready to go. Andy got temp access to his church's gym that has a full size basketball court. :D We had a couple hours worth of fun. Matt's and Dad's are both on channel A so they couldn't fly those at the same time, but Dad had his Gym Swallow (72mhz) that he flew around in there and Matt had a few of his R/C cars there to speed around with.

The funnest thing of the whole night was me standing on center court and launching my Andy's and Matt's AA at the same time and see who was the first one to hit me. That was a blast!!!! :D I got my head buzzed several times!

The only down side to the evening is nobody brought a dog-gone camera to catch any of this!?!?!?

I was there 20 minutes after your post and they were out with no more in the stock room. These things are the Tickle-Me-Elmo of the RC world. I give up.

I did a little browsing at Hobby Town and they have 2 Berg Microstamp 4L receivers ($29.71) and a Specktrum DX6 for $199. Looks like an attempt to actually carry some good stuff on this side of town.

Trying to fly in my bushy yard in this week's breezes (winds) caused a motor to be knocked off. They are very tough birds but when the breeze takes it into a bush and a prop strikes a branch, the motor comes off. They are held in place with a double faced tape. Mine would not stiick back into place and kept coming off, which doesn't improve control or thrust. One of the posts in the AA forum talked about breaking the motor wires from bending them trying to stick the motor back on.

I brushed some diluted Elmer's white glue on the wing to fill in the foam some. The only double-faced tape I could find was Scotch carpet tape--pretty thick and heavy but worked OK.

Here are some photos of the repair. Worked for me--your mileage may vary.

After seeing how well Rob's AeroAce flew today, he and I discussed the fact that he had to add a little weight to the nose. I also talked to Andy about getting the trim set correctly. Went home, added some weight and presto, flies like a brand new plane. I guess I just never realized that i was flying around on the verge of a stall most of the time. To anyone that has these, I highly recommend playing around with adding weight to the nose. I even taped a penny on the front during one of my flights. Man, she will move on. I mean a good >30% boost in speed. And it really didn't have trouble staying airborne with the added weight. I also suggest people tweak around with the trim dial. Push the throttle wide open and then rotate the trim through the entire range. Their will be a small range where the motors seem to sync up so to speak. There will be little to no vibration. When you do it you will see what I am talking about. This little suggestion (compliments of Mr. dhee-grose), actually fixed my second AeroAce. I had bought two, one for myself and one for my younger brother. Was going to return one of them because it just flew in circles but after trimming it out by listening, she flies better than my other one. These things really are worth 30 bucks.

I was out at lunch watching Jason fly and thought, what the heck, let's see if the ole AeroAce can handle this wind. Threw it up in the air and all she would do was hover into the wind. Before I knew it, I was walking some 50 yards to retrieve it. So I taped a dime to the front and gave it a second toss. It actually handled the wind very well. I could climb into the wind and fly forward into the wind with relative ease. I'm impressed. I have bought two for myself, one for my Dad, one for my sister, and one for my younger brother.

I saw a Stealth Bomber version at the Walmart in Athens yesterday. It is a three-channel version, so you have a more direct UP and DOWN control. I couldn't determine from the package how that was accomplished. Sorry, but I don't remember the price.
