Hello,

This is a newbie question: what are the current low cost gyros and accelerometers used for UAV auto pilots?

Thank you in advance.

Gyro sensors:
Tokin: www.nec-tokin.com/english/product/piezodevice2/ceramicgyro.html
Murata ENC03: www.murata.com/catalog/s42e3.pdf
Gyration MG1101 (3-axis): www.gyration.com/us/tech/technology.htm

Accelerometers:
Analog Devices ADXL202: www.analog.com/en/prod/0,2877,ADXL202,00.html
Memsic MXD2125: www.memsic.com/memsic/products/productselector.asp

There are more choices out there. These tend to the most popular. Gyro sensor availability (in small volumes) is usually a problem. So cannibalizing products like hobby gyros and gyromice is the usual workaround.

For gyro/accelerometer combination circuits, you might take a look at the very nice SparkFun boards: http://www.sparkfun.com/shop/index.php?shop=1&cart=478448&cat=71& (scroll down on the page).

the Freescale 3 axis accelerometer looks pretty nice. Sparkfun sells it and uses it as part of their 6dof imu. Analog devices also sells rate gyros.

Hello All,

Thanks for your inputs!

I'll take a look at these products.

Murata ENC03 is sensitive to temperature,a very little change of temperature can be disturb its zero_point. Tokin is similar.
So I think it usually used for shake measure, but not INS.

Do any of these gyros have outputs for servo control? I.E. could I get a 3 axis gyro and use it for roll/pitch/yaw stabilization?

the main idea is to conect your sensors with somthing u can program like an acroname brainstem www.acroname.com microcontroller. check out that site actualy, thy have some nice examples done using thr products like a gps guided boat, an interface between your rc recever and the servos, ... u could make a co pilot from that! sure u can get some gyros, tilt stuf to interface with it to... i2c comercial input output, iv got 1 :) thr fun and easy to program especialy if u have some servos and a few leds to controle... check it out. :p
