are you talking about the gimbals as used in normal transmitters??
if so then www.jensenjetmodels.com has a few different types and older radios like the futaba FG have good ones that work by themselves without all the plastic bezels and such as found on modern radios.

the best place to get these is on ebay - simply buy up an old transmitter than no one wants.

Try balsapr.com. They had GWS gimbals.

just looked at those. nice but they seem to use the ancient mechanical trim method where the stick's pots are moved with the trim levers :( guess the lever nubs could be hacked off and the body glued to the gimbal...
and the pots don't look all that hot either but what can you expect for $6??
still better IMO to get an old but nice looking (as in not used much) futaba FG on ebay. they usually go for less than $40 and that gets you a bunch of other goodies like proper trim levers and toggle switches. i use these on my DIY transmitter and like them a lot.

I have taken apart a computer joystick it looks like the GWS but smaller and has 100k pots.
I think these can olso be used? The movement is very heavy?
