P-40
Nov 29, 2005, 08:45 AM
After much thought, I have decided to sell my New-in-Box Thunder Tiger Voyager Sailboat kit. It is not doing anybody any good sitting on a shelf in the box. Somebody can surely build and enjoy her. :)
I will pay shipping to anywhere in the US (lower 48 states).
$139 Shipped.

I'am interested in your boat, does it have RC and what would be your rock bottom price? Please reply: my email address is morgandd821@comcast.net.

Skyshark555,
Can't get to the email right now, so I'll post here.
The Voyager sailboat is the kit only. It does not include a radio or servos.

Looking forward to it. I have been wanting a boat for a long time now and decided that I need at least a meter boat since its always windy here.

Kirby,
Still workin' on the pics. I had a lot to get done yesterday. Any particular angles you want to see? It is unassembled and still in the box.

Want to see the shape of the hull, amount of assembly, part count, relative size if possible.
Do you think this is a good beginner boat? (new to sailboats, not RC)

OK.
I bought it as my first sailboat. I didn't make to that point before helicopters took hold of my interest. It seems most recommend the V-32 as a first boat, but I have not seen or sailed one.

Here is a pic of the front of the box and the hull.
You'll have to excuse my primitive basement shop in the background.

So what kind of sail servos do you need with this boat?

I was planning on using a Futaba S3801 for the sails. It seems most recommend at least 150 oz-in of torque for the sail servo in a 1M boat. This servo puts out 156 oz-in at 4.8V and 194 oz-in at 6.0V. I would think that should be plenty.
The rudder uses one standard size servo.

Still trying to research a little. The photo shows an MRP logo. Is that the original MFG before Thunder tiger?
Does this have white sails?
Any radio recommendations?

The sails are still in there cardboard sleeve. I think they are white but will verify when I get home tonight. You need only a simple two channel stick radio with a Rx, one sail servo and one standard sized servo. I think Futaba has a package that is less than $100 that includes all of that.

The sails are white with blue pin stripes just like the box front pictured above.

Going south in a few days, just where in MO, do you live? Maybe I could pick up the boat, if it's still for sale. And could save you the shipping cost. skyshark555
