102-, Pat Mat and Umi Ryuzuki (and perhaps others) have landing craft experience; I'm sure they'll share their expertise.

A control rod connected down near the hinge at the base of the ramp is the easiest way to make a controllable drop down ramp. If you want to run chain, or cables from the top edge, I would counter weight, or spring load the connections so that they stay taught and then retract as the ramp is lowered and raised.
If you thicken up the boat sides, or the ramp itself, all the mechanisms can be hidden.

i will try to poast some more pics today. the radio and stuff is in. i have started to put some detail bits on. i was thinking about the door and i thaught it only needs to open when it hits the groung. i am going to try to spring load it. when it goes into the shallows a piece of brass rod hits the ground and opens the door. i will try to draw a picture but that might cofuse you even more.

an overall pic and a shot of the prop i made.
the radio i have doesnt have a landing gear type switch on it. i would have to hold the stick to keep the door open. it does not have to work. i just need a boat that can push my steam launch back to shore if the flame goes out.

HELLO I have done a couple of landing crafts. Compleatly Scratch built with one with a working ramp. If I can help along with UMI just ask. I have an LCT that just got compleated about a month ago that has the working ramp and a small shearmen tank that comes in and out. If you want to see my work go to landing crafts OR go to model warships.com look up LCT by DON rc it just went to that sight a few days ago. I have some information and pictures on that sight , I have been helping another boater with some informaton dealing with another Landing craft.

hey 102511, i'm the guy that rustbucket and a few others have been helping, i'm new to this so hence i hav'nt put a working ramp on mine, as i gain more experience i can start experimenting more, i have foto's on here under scratch build landing craft, so my advice is take small steps, a working ramp is'nt essential if it's your first build just get used to the materials and how you do things, to be honest mine was cut up with a jigsaw and sanded then filled with decorator filler, good luck and welcome to a global community where everyone has experience at on thing or another

HELLO This is rusty or the rustbucket. YUP LIKE HE says were here to help each other . Even me and I have been building for many years.
Some of you have done things work with different materials and motors set up that I have only thought about.
so like I say were all here to learn . A working ramp is not all that hard once you know how to do it. Another boater told me and showed me a few months ago and I still turn her for help off and one .
so there is never a dumb question unless it is the one you did not ask.
