Got any video of edf performance? Got any edf system recomendations?

For EDF system, we recomend to use twin GWS EDF-55 w/ 4200-4600kv brushless motor & 3 cells Li-po OR 5200-5400kv with 2 cell li-po.
One of my customers will try the 2 cells setting later. Stay tune and I will upload the video at once as we get it.

Ok great. It certainly is a value priced plane and nice looking lines. I hope it flys well with the fans.

Does it only come with the foam pieces? Any push rods or anything else included?
What about building instructions? Are they included and are they useful or is this more of a "make it work" type build?

It comes with 9 pcs. (as per the photo). All the CF push rods, full-motion elevator accessories, rudder horns, links connectors & CF rod for the main wings are included; but no landing wheels.
This plane is quite easy to build. A simple instruction manual in one A3 sheet is included. However, we found it that the CG should be put 25-30mm forward than the instruction manual said.

For pusher (with Towerpro 2408-21T + HD8040 prop), u may try the E-power 11.1V 1900mah Li-po X 1p
For Brushless EDF-55 (w/ 4200-4600kv Motor), u may try E-power 11.1V 1900mah Li-po X 2p
For Brushless EDF-55 (w/ 5200-5400kv Motor), u may try E-power 7.4V 1900mah Li-po X 2p
PS: There will be a new series of Zeta-plus battery released very soon.
12C and 20C are available at 1050mah, 1700mah & 2200mah.

Received it last Saturday, ~8 days to New Jersey via Air Mail with minimal tracking. Very well padded with bubble & sheet foam - even the clerk @ the Post Office commented as such from just feeling it. Inside the box, parts bags are taped down. Included are horns & CF pushrods & such. Also included is a brown-smoke canopy which is not shown in Albert's photo.
Build look easy though it's definitely not a beginner's kit. The photos/instructions are good only as a guide. The parts are nicely molded w stubs & nooks. There are cutouts for a wing brace but CF is not supplied. There are 2 servo cutouts in the wings for which the instructions seem to suggest using one for the full-flying-elevator & one for the ailerons. Looks like it's easier to use 2 for ailerons & a 3rd for the elevator, perhaps inside the cavernous fuse. The 1900mah pack Albert suggested fits nicely in the cockpit.
I'll probably add a ply launch handle / skid as the fuse is a bit wide to grip firmly. The only quirk so far is that the 2 elevator halves are different in thickness though identical in planform.
Will get to building in a little while.
Looks like a good deal.

moyg, thanks for your purchasing :)
The new batch of SU-27 includes a brown-smoke canopy. It is recommeded to use 2 servos for ailerons & a 3rd for the elevator. You can take reference for installation method of the elevator as per the attached picture.

Any video?
Good directions? Hardware pack?
Prices are good..........
AirCraft of Japan has lower cost shipping.........$2.50 for most items
$10 for really large packages............http://www.aircraft-world.com/default.asp

Hi Just_Steve51,
A hardware pack is included w/ rudder horns, hinges, push rods, etc.
Our shipping fee is at cost only. I don't think it is a honest policy to set the products at a higher price, for a lower shipping cost instead.

Does the tail linkage shown here, disturb EDF airflow?? I would think this setup would have to be abandonded for EDF....

Go ahead for this Elevator mod. w/ EDF like the attached photo.
Just a CF rod w/o the plywood board, it works fine ^^

Nice video. Which guy is you? :)
I cant wait to fly my twin EDF! Those 4600kv 20mm motors from aer-fever should work great too! Thats a smoken good deal for the airframe and twin BL motoes and controllers. The whole plane will be less than $200 US RTF! THANKS Aero-fever! :D

Sorry, none of the guy in the video is me... :p
If u want to build a Twin EDF Su-27, u may try Zeta-Plus 4600kv on EDF-55 or perfect fit with the HY's EDF-68 or GWS EDF-64. This EDF-68 will be ready for selling on aero-fever.com within 1-2days.
For a better efficiency, u may try the Himark 2025-4200kv or 3200kv instead.

Albert,
Any balancing issues on the impellors? I've got the model and if the 68mm fans fit, I may pick 2 up from you. $14ea. is a great price if they balance.

Check the video out as below . . . this Redhawk is using our 68mm EDF w/o the non-balance problem. You may check the balance of the impeller before use for secure.

Hi Mac8,
The shipping cost of EDF-68 x 2:
SpeedPost EMS (2-5 days) US$17
Air Parcel (7-14 days) US$11.38
PS: We will have a New 28mm 4200kv Brushless motor released soon (about 1-2weeks) to suit this EDF-68.

Well heres the scoop on my Su27. I dryfitted everything with 2x EDF64, 2x Zeta 4600kv motors, 3 servos & rx and 2x 2100mah packs my plane weighs 29oz!!! Now hypothetically, the twin fan units will produce about 30oz thrust and draw around 30amps current on 3s2p. But at that AUG (RTF weight), it will hardly be jet like performance. Might even need bungee launch or a hefty hand lauch from a slope. Kinda a bummer. :( I'm not sure it will fly well. I'm also wondering what will happen to the bottom on belly landings at that weight!
Albert, How much did the "prototype" in the video weigh? The suggested weight is only 19oz!!! I might have to set it up pusher to achieve jet performance with this airframe. EDF at this weight/power will be very sluggish. I'm even considering a single wattage power fan with the 4600kv motor. That would push a 3s1p pack to its limits, but be rocken thrust to weight (since I'd be closer to 19oz w/ 18-19oz thrust).

Albert,
I sent you a PM about shipping a SU-27 with the fans.
Ralph,
I think your right, that is heavy. Did you weigh your components seperatly, like the battery, fan, motor, etc. I wonder what the 10oz. difference is from?
Ralph Brekan
Jun 04, 2006, 04:59 PM
Yeah the packs are 5oz each... and the Zeta 4600motors are 3oz (4oz w/ esc). So you're looking at 18oz in powerplant. A ProLite 2100 3s is 5oz; but I dont know if it could sustain... I think a 3300mah 20c 3s1p would be 9oz and could support the load, but your still @ 28oz RTF. That would be 1.1:1 (thrust to weight) which would be flying, but not stellar jet like performance at all.
A single 5-6oz pack would be better, but still a whopping 24-26oz AUG @ 30oz static thrust. It might climb vertical for a little bit.

Great prices - but - SHIPING IS A KILLER..............$30 to $60 depending on weight
If you have to return - again you pay shipping
Air Craft of Japan is usually under $10........Why is Hong Kong so much more expensive
Albert_Moto
Jun 27, 2006, 01:38 AM
I think Hong Kong is almost cheapest in shipping cost (Air freight) around the world. The actual Japan's shipping cost u quoted is not cheaper than H.K., but they may only set the aircraft price much higher to cover a lower shipping cost!!
Be a honest vendor, we only claim the actual shipping cost.
