Hi,

I have been lurking around these forums for the last few weeks & thought I'd say hi to everyone. I have been into rc model cars since my teenage years but stopped for 15yrs. Recently, my interest in rc is rekindled again.

Now, I find myself trying to break the bound of gravity. I have looked at the slow flyer forums, multi-rotor heli forums & draganflyer UFO types but decided that these ornithopter models are the most interesting.

Originally, I am thinking of something that is small & slow & kid friendly (i.e no exposed rotating things). Well, forget about small. I will take slow & kid friendly (I have 2 kids, one is 3+ while the other is 1+). So, I took the plunge & ordered a slow hawk from Chronister. Hopefully, things will work out.

Hi Joe. Thanks for the order. I was wondering what MY stood for in your address. Makes it look like a US address when you do it that way but we have no state MY. Good luck with the Slow Hawk. The gearbox actually is exposed so watch their little fingers. I know you and they will enjoy the bird.

Joe,

I'm a newbie to orni's as well, just recently got my Slowhawk direct from Sean/Hobbytechnik in Florida. Its a brilliant design, there was a lot of thought and effort put into developing this kit, and its certainly one of the more unique r/c related flying designs.

I hope to share pics and flight reviews within the week. Just finished up locktiting bolts on mine, and its too windy to fly right now. The beach and dunes are down the road from us, so I have a perfect place to fly. I'm looking forward to getting comfortable with the model, then trying to glide it in the coastal winds once I have a feel for it from flying in calm weather.
