At .34", are the JR DS168 wing servos the thinnest wing servo out there? The Volz and Hitec are .39"

Thanks!

That's about as thin as a decent wing mounted servo gets. What wing airfoil? Cord at the location?

I don't know. It's a DJ Aerotech Spectre 120 and they have kept the airfoil a secret. The wing is VERY thin though. I measured and a .34" should fit, but a .39" would be right on the border. Guess I'll just go with the JRs.

I wasn't paying too much attention to this thread to begin with, but to let you know that the JR168 is made by Hitec and is the same servo as the Hitec HS125MG.

Although it cannot be called a true wing servo the Dymond D60 is used in wings where no other servo will fit. In the F5B world its been used in some very fast flying planes (1.8-1.9 metres) and held up well to competition stress.

It is mechanically same as Hitec 125/5125, the electronics a are by JR. Anyway, I would take a look at Volz wing servos. JR 168 has just as weak gears as the Hitecs. My friend just broke the gear from his 168 :(

Well, no, not exactly. The airfoils on the Spectre 120 are from the DS6082 family, but vary along the span depending on the local requirements. I designed the DS6082 family, it is not a modified version of some other section.

What is secret is the coordinates. And, BTW, the designation "DS6082" says exactly NOTHING about the airfoil's geometry or aerodynamic characteristics.

I've installed the older ones for Carlton. I took the cover off of the servos gears to see how they were made. Incredable precision. Had an extra stage or two of gear reduction.
