Greetings all,
I recently picked up a new GL ARF here on RC Groups and was wondering what size battery you guys are using. I'd prefer to balance with a larger battery than with lead. I'll probably use Hitec HS-325HB servos at 1.52 oz each, with either a Hitec 555 Rx or Hitec HFS-04MG. Any Suggestions?
Thanks,
Tank

four AA's is about as big as you'd want to get, and you'll probably still need some nose weight.

Anything 700 mah or higher should give you a great day of flying with capacity to spare. I us 1100 mah in my Spirit and have never run it down.
Edit:
Let me revise this, 600 MAh pack is more than adequate for a great day of flying. I did that many many times.

Tank those sound like BIG servos. I have HS 81's in mine and they do fine.
Usually you're flying so slow with such small inputs that battery life won't be an issue. It takes a fair amount of nose weight to balance out so go for a square pack of 600's if you have them. Mount the servos fair forward if you can. Double check the balance before you glue.... Good luck!

whorges is right, the standard size servos are not needed for strength, however if you can squeeze them in forward of the wing they will help balance the plane.
HS-81s are pleanty strong and will be much easier to move forward of the wing. If you enable the spoilers, then 3 will work well.

Good points...that are much appreciated. Though I've heard in the slope group that the HS-81s have some double centering problems. Is this not much of a problem with conventional tailed aircraft that don't require mixing? I haven't flown thermal in over 20 years. A lot has changed in the way of equipment since then...
