I was told FMS would not work with JR transmitters. Is this true? If not, I have a JR 8103 and I would need a JR to UBS cord. Do they make one? When I purchased my Hangar 9, Alpha 60 it came with simulator software and a cord that plugged into the transmitter and to a serial port on my computer. My new computer has no serial ports, only USB.

Help appreciated. If a cord is available JR to USB could you tell me where?

Thanks

If your JR Tx has a 3.5mm jack for the simulator output you may use a simple audio cable (Radio Shack has them) that has identical plugs on both ends. The connection is only two conductors so you may use a monoaural cable but the stereo cable works too. The catch is that you need to use the "line in" jack on your audio card and it won't work for the available .dll - SmartProposPlus - with Windows XP Service pack 2. (see the home page for FMS for the link to download SPP) I had to get an old machine out and install XP without Service Pack 2 to make it work. The writer of SmartProposPlus is aware of the problem but to date has not be successful in fixing it. If you can't get a set up with XPminusSP2 you are better off to go with buying (or building) an adaptor and cable to USB.
sorry, you probably didn't want to hear that :(
Even if you do get the above equipment set up, most laptops don't have a "line in" jack, just a "mic" jack. In the case where you don't have a "line in " jack you will have to install some resistors to the audio cable to attenuate the signal down to "mic" levels.

JR to USB interface (http://www.milehighwings.com/usb_cables.htm)

That site has lots of good info.
But, alas, everything is marked "SOLD OUT".
Now that doesn't look too promising :(
