Hi Stefan,

Here's the new thread. Just to recap, I was wondering if it's going to be hard to import planes from other sims, like G2/G3 and AF etc? There are plenty of free planes available for these sims too...

Thanks,
Uttam

I believe rignt now G3, Reflex and AFPD models are in closed proprietary format.

If G3 accepts in the future general 3d format like 3ds or dfx, import can be done.

We are working now on import function on the menu for models from FMS. First will be implemented import for models in directx format (the models for the new FMS versions) and later the mgo format (for earlier versions of FMS models).

Even now, it is very easy to convert FMS models into ac3d format, you just need .x to ac3d converter. Then you will need ac3d from ac3d.org to rotate the model and scale if nessesary.

Thanks,
Stefan

I already have ac3D, where would I find a .x to ac3D converter?

-Thanks,

Geoex is a nice program that converts .x (directx file fomat) to .dxf (autocad 3d format). You can download the program from here:
http://rcp.web.infoseek.co.jp/fms_ParDes_GeoEX_e.html

After converting the .x to .dxf, you can import the .dxf into ac3d. Then, you have to rotate the model to the position that ClearView expect. The texture mapping is lost in the process, so you have to do the mapping again. Before saving the final model, make sure you triangulate the surfaces because ClearView expect the models triangulated. Actually, there is not much more to it. Adding moving props and flight controll surfacses for planes is more complicated process. I will happily describe some other time if there is interest. The heli main and tail rotor modeling is self evident if you open the coresponding ac files for any helicopter model.

Let me know if you have more questions.

I just downloaded clearview. i was told it would work with my Interlink controller from my G2. But I get absolutely no response and no keyboard commands do anything. Is there a way?

This is a known problem with I-Controller where multiple device drivers are installed, which confuses ClearView. If you go to device manager you will see multiple i-controller drivers installed, which is wrong. Here is what customer named Bob posted that fixes the problem:

Here is what I had to do. I'm running xp with the latest service pack.

1. With the controller connected I went to Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, then Human Interface device. I did not find any reference to a controller under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. I had to leave the controller connected because when I removed the controller I lost all reference to the controller under Human Interface Device. Under Human Interface Device I had:

HID Compliant Device
HID Compliant Device
HID Compliant Device
HID Compliant game controller
Mouse
USB Human Interface Device

First I uninstalled the first three devices. This enabled all functions of the setup menu. However when I rebooted the three HID compliand devices were back. I next tried to disable the devices and so far that's worked. And as far as I know everything else is working on my computer.

2. Running game pad test I now have:
Mouse Mouse
Keyboard (keyboard)
I-Controller I-Controller

I hope this helps

Also,

Ver. 4.13 has some code to handle exactly this problem. Try v. 4.13 and if not working, please send c:\ProgramFiles\SVKSystems\ClearView\log.txt to support@rcflightsim.com

The file formats for AFPD and Reflex are proprietary but you can get .x-converters for AFPD and Reflex as well. Just contact STLPilot for details and goodle for X-MODDER. skirtz, I understand your need for push-marketing but please don't do the same mistakes as the KE people: stick to the truth.

Kurt,

Here is what I said:

Here is what you said:

So, the truth according to what I said _AND_ accourding what YOU said is, that the Reflex file format is PROPRIETARY, so I am sticking to the truth.
