The Seattle Area Soaring Society once gain finds itself in a fight with our County Parks Division over the disposition of 60 Acres South, our home field of over 30 years. The sordid details, if you have the stomach for this sterling example of civic responsibility, can be found in Russ Light's thread on RCSE. In essence, the county proposes giving this public park to a private soccer organization (check out the aforementioned thread, it gets worse!). It's not a done deal yet and SASS is not giving up without a fight. The local homeowners association has joined us in opposition to this as well as several model rocketry groups that also use the field. Loss of 60 Acres South would be a severe blow to R/C soaring and aeromodelling in the Puget Sound area.
