hi there people, :)
im new to r/c (spent my youth racing cars)
im ok with electrics but need some help with building my own tx/rc for micro planes
im aiming at using lots of spares ive collected over 10 yrs to make micro planes (sub 20grms) what im after is info on how to use micro car/trans
my problem is in the transmitter and receiver how do i make it a 3ch as its only left/right forward/back? i read about someone on here how had the same r/c car setup and had got great results!!
its the type with the car being charged by clipping it to the trans.ive got about 5 sets to play with so im not bothered by stripping them.
the first plane kit i made had weight at 31.9grms and thats with ni-mh 120mah .it flys but not good as it needs micro servo's or in hinges .i was quite happy with it but im really aiming at a nice stunt flyer for indoor use only any ideas on this or ideas on hot to make my own stunt flyer?

Making a 3rd channel from 2 is not for the faint hearted... as a minimum you need a _lot_ of electronics experience. Depending on the plane, you might get away with only 2 channels (eg power and left/right rudder, make sure the plane goes up only when under power). If you've got more than one car to chop up, use two and get 4 channels?

Other ideas: li-polys are a lot lighter than NiMh. You can use coils and magnets as actuators instead of servos. Look at other battery/motor combinations. Indoor flyers are hard to build (very small, very light) and tend to use fairly exotic components for good results. Try ebay for a small/cheap 35MHz transmitter (if in Europe), and look at wes-technik.de for some very small receivers and other great toys.
