Why do you want to take off from grass? Hand launch is easy and you have greater choice of where to fly. With u/c grass would have to be very short.
Also with hand launch you dont need u/c so plane looks good in sky. Only my thoughts. Couple of ALFA planes in flight.

Cheers

Alfa looks like a great plane..I have an alfa Mig and I love the looks and quality of it...the only thing I hate is the directions....leave little to be desired...What alfa plane do you fancy???.........And do any alfa planes come with retracts??

Not that im aware of.

On a plane of that size, retracts are not easy to make without a weight penalty and still be strong enough for grass landings without buckling the foam wings.

Wow..a plane that size....Alfa planes dont get over 35 inch wing spans....GWS planes have tons of retracts......they are no bigger than 35 inches...

Alfa wing is hollow depron . Not much in there at all to mount retracts .

GWS wing is solid foam, easier to reinforce .

but as mentioned most flyers don't use retracts on these size planes, but a skilled modeler can do it . I'd consider a bigger bird personally.

If you'd like to have a go putting gear in an ALFA, please share .

They do have that P-47 vid with retracts.

take care .

I love the looks of that FW-190 everytime I see it. It's going on my next years list of planes.

Best electric warplane (Looks and flight) is FSK, more work than Alfa but better looking and the same flying characteristics

They are Foam as Alfa but with much more detail and a lot of cutting and paste parts, it is more like building a static scale model than a RC plane. You can see the web in English in the little round flags link at the top of the page. See also the Hobby Lobby web page where you can find more info and videos about all of them.

Best electric warplane is handsdown the .....

Well it depends on what you want.

If price is an object, looks are not, and you want it to fly like a parkflyer straight-out-of-the-box, then GWS is hard to beat.

If price is not as important, looks are a big deal, flying is most important, and building is not your thing, then ALFA is the hands down winner.

If price is not as important, Looks are a very big deal, flying is pretty important, and you enjoy being very involved in the construction, then FSK will be your best choice.

I have the Alpha Corsair, with the recommended brushless and li-po setup. It flies right out of my hand at 2/3 throttle. Once airborne, I throttle back to a little over half and can tool around for 3 flights on one 3 cell 1500 MAH pack. I wouldn't want gear on these light little planes over grass. I've seen many GWS gear-fixed or retracts-ripped out on landing.

The alpha planes are reinforced on the bottom to stand up to belly landings.

I've seen the Alpha MiG take off from grass without gear. Hobby Lobby's web site has a video.
