Hello Folks!

Last weekend, I just got myself a nice (hopefully) ARF tricycle trainer for free...

The thing is called "Speed Air", has 155 cm (61") span, 116 cm (45.6") length and weighs around 2.4kg (100oz) RTF with a 40 - 46 engine.

Here's a Pic! (http://www.top-model.ch/GetAttachment.aspx?attaName=23672fc1-8179-4e73-8d2e-790b594f1dc7)

Now I really need help how to properly electrify it (it's my first e-conversion project)!

I was thinking about an Axi 4120/14 with a 11xwhatever 3-blade VarioProp on 6s... Does that sound about right? I don't want it to go vertical, but it should be able to take off our grass strip.

Thanks and best regards - Paco

Plan on this airplane being in the 6+ lb range when electrified. To do 3D well, the power level must be 120 watts per pound or so, more would not hurt.

Therefore, an AXI 412018 with a 5s pack of 4000 mah or so, with a 15-10 APC eprop and a suitable ESC runs at about 750 watts. a little more than 120W/lb but whoopie.

I prefer Castle Creations, a phx60 or phx80 would be great.
Get the Castle Link thingy for CC stuff.

Buy the radial mount kit because this cools the motor the best. Also use a dubro spinnernut not a full size spinner. Why? The spinnernut is smaller and allows the cooling air to be jammed into the motor, a very good thing.

Have fun, Fly high with Serious ePower.

Ray,

thanks a lot! Seems like the 4120 is the way to go (and I can use it in other planes later...)!

I've just placed my order for everything I'll need. :)

Cheers and best regards - Paco
