View Full Version : Easy to build Bubble Dancer Kit coming?

Rumors are swirling in cyberspace, around some goings on at Denny's Polecat Aero.
I hear he's getting a surprise ready, and I'm going to spring (a very early) leak. Sorry Denny. You didn't think you could keep this a secret, did you?
Long ago, Denny sunk his teeth into that Bubble Dancer Kit idea that others (myself included) have put time into but deferred on. I know because he and I chatted about it, way back then.
The recent scuttlebutt is that he didn't ever let go! That boy has a BD design variant with a tube spar system in the works, and is considering offering different pod options (built up or composite), and he's going to offer it as an "EZ Dancer".
Over the past couple years, I've taken a ton of emails from Bubble Dancer Builder wannabe's, who would prefer a kit over a complete scratchbuild. I understand, as once you've seen one fly (or flown a buddy's) it's kind of hard to let go of the idea of having one.
If you have a hankering to build a BD, but would like a complete kit, I suggest you go bug Denny. I bet he'll put you first in line for one of these things, if they really exist.
If not, go bug Denny anyway. He likes the attention. ;-)

Not to be confused with DHarban's EZ-Dancer, right?

Right. I haven't seen any diagrams yet, but my guess is that the planform and poly breaks will match the Bubble Dancer.

Now, I wonder how Don's project is coming. He had a sexy sleek black pod for his original BD, and I wonder how much of that is making it into his kit. More power and all success to all Bubble Dancer builders!

Exactly. That one was EZ-Dancer. This one is EZ<space>Dancer. :)
Hmmm... Seems to be the thing to do, rumor about a Bubble Dancer kit.... :)
Perhaps I'll throw my hat in the ring. I am going to come out with an EZ_Dancer kit... Yeah, that is it! :)
Sorry, could not resist a little levity this afternoon.
On a serious note, I am sure if Denny does kit such a plane, it will be great. I know a few fellows that have Wind Dancers, they are nice.

Dude
It's not like you couldn't keep a secret. You held it in for a good 10-15 minutes:-)
Not to be confused with DHarban's EZ-Dancer. The EZBD (new name here, didn't realize I was poaching on somebodys name) will be entirely different.
Think of a Bubble Dancer which is self-jigging and falls together like the WindDancer, using cnc router-cut wood, pultruded carbon tubes and strips, and fast CA assembly. Some weight compromise is unavoidable, but not as much as you'd think.
Kit production should start fairly quickly, test kit parts are being cut now and it's not like we have to go through the process of seeing if the design flys OK:-)))))) Will be in plenty of time for winter building season.
I do not have a price yet, nor do I know "exactly" when

Cool.. was looking at the semi-daunting task of putting together everything for a BD build. Kits would be awesome.

The Don Harban EZ Dancer is still alive. I have had a long dry spell from modelling for the past 6 months as I was tied up in legal affairs concerning settling with the partnership which has put bread on the table for the last few years. I got that behind me and have been in the process of moving to Tulsa to get away from the hurricane hazard here (I live in a house on stilts with the first living level at 17 feet -- not enough had Rita hit where she was originally forecast.) Anyway, I am fully retired now and about 2/3 moved to Tulsa. I am literally setting up shop now and should have it together in the next 30 days. Then I will be motivated to get the EZ Dancer together since I broke two of them before I began my legal journey last spring.
Regards,
Don

I know that Mark's name is on the plans for the EZBD, so I'm sure that if you build it as he describes you'll have no problems winching this one...

He kind of does. It is called the Wind Dancer... You can get a builders kit for it.

A couple of people have built thiers into non-electric gliders with good results. They were not quite as strong as an Alegro Lite for winching but still fairly strong.
