Everyone,

I'm looking to build a 48" ws B-24 Liberator. I'm trying to track down an airfoil # I can use for ordering the wing cores. The original was a "Davis" airfoil, but I cant seem to find any details of its dimentioning. Therefore, I'm looking to find a NACA # that is close to it.

If anyone has a suggestion for a better airfoil I'd be most happy.

Thanks,

Dave

"The Incomplete Guide to Airfoil Usage:
http://www.ae.uiuc.edu/m-selig/ads/aircraft.html
.... Model....................................Root..... .... Tip
Consolidated 32 B-24 Liberator... Davis (22%)...Davis (9.3%)
Consolidated 32 B-41 Liberator.. Davis (22%)... Davis (9.3%)
Consolidated 32 C-109 ............ Davis (22%)...Davis (9.3%)
Consolidated 32 C-87.............. Davis (22%)...Davis (9.3%)
Consolidated 32 F-9................ Davis (22%)...Davis (9.3%)
Consolidated 32 LB-30 Liberator. Davis (22%)...Davis (9.3%)
Consolidated 32 PB4Y Privateer.. Davis (22%)...Davis (9.3%)
.
The NACA equivalents would be 2422 and 2410

Its available in profili2, send me an email to stockley@slingshot.co.nz and what format you need (pro, dat, cor or txt) and I'll send you the file.
Cheers, Les.

I'm pretty sure you don't want a 22% thick airfoil for a 48" span plane. The plane gets smaller, but the air molecules don't. Think Reynolds number (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reynolds_number).

Go here and read about small airfoils:
