Can anyone recomend a boat than can run on 7 sub-c cells? I'm not looking to spend more than $100. I already have the tx, rx, ESC, motor (12turns, is that good?) , battery and standard servos. So I don't need a entire kit, basically just the hull.

That 12 turn motor is likely to not work well. For hulls check out

Thanks for the links, I looked through em all. The boat that caught my attention the most was the "DANVO Avenger" at http://www.drcwebservices.com/ffe/boats.htm (the first one). Do you know if that one is any good? Do you think I'll be able to fit a flat 7 cell battery pack in it?

The 7 cell will be tight but looks like it will fit. I do have to say the Avenger looks sharp! As for the boat being any good read this:

And this:

Also look at this one:

Good luck, this is a great fun hobby.

Just remembered that the RC Boat Modeler Feb. 2002 issue had a good review of 8 different boats.
Oval Master by BBY Racing/ Baja Boss by CEN/ Lil'Hummer by DPI Leisure Sports/ Stiletto by Graupner/ Dagger & the Stinger-SS by Great Planes/ Blast & the Villain IV by Traxxas.

Goods, bads, speeds, and costs were looked at by several people. I recall the sticker shock I had(or rather my wife had)when I was getting started but I am happy that I waited and saved, to get that middle of the road boat. Often someone buys something slow at a lesser price and spend alot more trying to modify it to go a decent speed they are happy with. My first was a Key West with a Neo775, X438 prop on 12 matched cells, yeah buddy- its a handfull!

The avenger looked to be the best one for me, I ordered it from Fuller's Fast Electrics. There only one state away, so hopefully it will be here soon.

FYI, there is a neat little video of this boat on the manufacturer's web page:

I am thinking about ordering thier PT boat. It looks nice.

Cool beans! Let us know what you think about it!

Cheers,
